 |  Dr. Ray Zablotny is simply the best....  |  show details
Aug 1st, 2011

He has been my psychiatrist since the early 80's....He rotated through the Psych Emergency at San Francisco General Hospital where I was a Nurse Clinician at the time...He was at UCSF where I had gotten my MS degree in Nursing, also Psychiatric.....I recognized right away, as did many of my peers, that Dr. Zablotny was not the 'run of the mill' shrink.....He was the best....no foolish theoretical discussioins during therapy...Dr. Zablotny got right down to business with "What should we work on today???"....I really appreciated this and after 20 years of therapy, I really had explored who I am, We had worked through several psychological 'issues' that had kept me from functioining optimally....and I had moved more and more into Buddhism/Vipassana meditation, neither of which Ray subscribed to or practiced himself....My point: like a good parent, Ray very much supported whatever changes happened and whever personality evolved in me....RAY was so supportive and helpful, I could change to become the person I really am, the happy, fullfilled me......This is only one point I could use to illustrate how good Ray actually was....The day he retired from Kaiser, I called to say good bye and wish him well on retirement....I wanted to tell him two things: I first told him, "I LOVE YOU." "And I want you to know, Ray, that you have made a real difference for the good in my life....." It was all true; we both knew it was merely an affirmation....We were finished, and Ray will always live in my heart/mind....I will be forever grateful......THANKS, RAY........yogi, tucson desert....
