Spinal Diagnostics and Treatment Center is a free standing ambulatory surgery center. Our facility is technologically state of the art, designed to provide the most modern and up to date treatment and diagnoses for patients with spine disorders. Our Medical Director, Dr. Richard Derby is an anesthesiologist with over twenty years experience in the field of spinal diagnostic injection procedures and related treatments. In many patients, particularly those with primarily back or neck pain, it is difficult to localize the exact source of pain. An alternative to relying only on the clinical evaluation and x-ray studies to diagnose the source of pain is diagnostic injections. If you have such pain relief following a cortisone injection, that also may be important diagnostically.Examples of diagnostic injections include disc, facet, sacroiliac, sympathetic, and selective epidural or nerve root injections. Using injections, in conjunction with clinical information and imaging studies, we are …able to diagnose the source of pain in approximately 75% of patients. If your doctor knows where your pain is coming from he or she may recommend a therapeutic injection. Examples of therapeutic injections include epidural, facet, sacroiliac, sympathetic injections., facet rhizotomy, and intradiscal electrothermal therapy.

...I had mine with DrDerby 21 years ago. He advised me to avoid a cervical fusion, and find a good anesthesiologist. I did. Never regretted not ending up like Ed Sullivan and still in agony. Thank you Richard Derby !!

Dr. Derby basically saved my life in terms of finally giving me a proper diagnosis for my lumbar discs causing me incredible nerve pain. I flew to NYC, Boston and all over the country to finally get my proper diagnosis which I could finally present to my insurance to get a spinal fusion which they denied me for over a decade. With my specific diagnosis it was determined that a lumbar fusion would help me. I finally was then able to have several Levels fused and lessen my nerve and overall pain. Dr. Derby did my discogram. It went very smoothly. He is a kind man. He is also a genius. I am so grateful for doctors like him.

Dr Derby walked out of the examining room on me while I was talking. I found him and his staff very rude and will never return.

Dr Derby is the very best in the fieldI have had injections instead of surgeries and much better results.A great man and a pleasure to deal with

Doctor Derby is a wonderful,great and caring doctor.I was nervous the day of my procedure and he had his staff give me something to relax me and made sure my pain level was controlled. Dr Derby explained everything very well. I was a little down and out. I asked what if this does not work and he looked at me and said there are other options for the first time I felt there was hope. I would put my life in Doctor Derby's hands in a heartbeat anytime. He is Just wonderful the best.I was lucky to have been sent to him.
