Dr. Rachel L Levine, MD

Not quite sure how to do this. I Appreciate your updates. You also have a gift which I don't have. I am a Bio major. Sometimes I am blah blah blah & no one understands me. You bring the issues down to the public in an undersable manner. That is sometimes hard to do.

She saved my life. I am certain without her help I would not be where I am today. Amazing physician.

My 3 year anniversary of being feeding tube free is coming up and I would not be where I am without Dr. Levine, she is my hero. She was able to accept herself while helping others accept themselves. The first time I met Dr. Levine I was about 89 pounds and 17 years old. She didn't yell at me like some people have, she talked to me like I was a human. She asked me what my favorite foods were and told me if I wanted chicken nuggets at 2 am it was TOTALLY acceptable! I can not began to imagine where I would be without this doctor. Man or woman she is a hero. Thank you Dr. Levine.

I have no objection to a transgender doctor, but I do have concerns when it seems to affect the level of treatment received. Dr. Levine has become a caricature of his former self - difficult to communicate with, slow to respond to requests, and generally out of touch. If you are looking for professional treatment for an eating disorder, seek help in Philly, Pittsburgh or Maryland. Keep away from Hershey.

People have to understand, it was not an easy decision for her to make to change from a he to a her. And it is not contradictory to the standards in treating eating disorders. Its actually a disorder called gender identity disorder, and the treatment for it is to change what gender the person identifies with. She is still a great doctor for adolescents and children going through eating disorders. And being a changed man does NOT in any way make her a pedophile. People need to lighten up.

Dr. Levine was very instrumental in saving my life several years ago... goodness, i guess it's been about 10 years now. I was super anorexic, depressed-- I really needed help that my parents couldn't give me. I credit him and Christ for pulling me out of where I was and helping me to live again. Those of you who have struggled with similar issues will know what I mean. He was and is truly amazing. I've been away from PA for several years, and just recently heard about Dr. Levine's gender identity changes. I'm not going to get into the personal implications of any of that. All I want to say is that this person and his dedicated staff worked hard to save me and COUNTLESS others, and I'm so grateful. I pray that he/she has many more years of positive, caring service to some of the women who need it most. Regardless of gender identity, Dr. Levine is a hero. I wish all the best. And to the girl who doesn't think you shouldn't have to eat lunch in IOP-- are you serious about… getting better or not? Life is really good on the other side of illness... so, gut check yo-self.

Dr. Lavine was so helpful in explaining what causes my anxiety when I eat too much. Also in helping my family understand that bulimia isn't a choice. I felt so comfortable and understood by her (or him) that I cant believe anyone has any negative things to say.

This man, soon to be woman is a very respectable and caring person. I am very bothered however, that in this clinic setting, many of us who go here have body image issues and we cope with it by means of our eating disorders. Dr Levine is sending the wrong message by undergoing his gender change. Love your body for what it is.... since I am a diagnosed anorexic but still feel I am fat does this allow for me to continue to lose even more weight or because I feel fat still to seek out surgery to change the way I see myself?One thing I will comment on here is the complete failure for staff (The case worker, Mary Keener) to return phone calls. I first took this personally but quickly changed that thought when I discovered she had done it to family members of mine as well. Very unprofessional. Getting into their IOP program is quite laughable. Eat lunch first thing you get there, to be allowed the therapy much needed... don't eat lunch... "You will be dismissed from the program for the day".… Am I to assume this means we are not allowed to have an Eating Disorder to participate at an Eating disorder Clinic? Don't abide by the eating rules 3 times, you are discharged. I am very confused by this place...

i liked doctor Levine very much. I have not been in the office for years but i'm very weired out right now. I hear now he is changing to be a women things like this does not bother me, but what does is this is a place where they tell you love who you are and what god gave you but now he is chnaging himself? i have very mixed feelings about this. this does not change of what kind of doctor Richard is but i find it odd knowing him as a man now he is a women wow.
