It is very time consuming to be involved with this practice. Long waits for appointments and tests. Then you must wait an extremely long time for anyone to get back to you with test results. The doctor brushes off your concerns like you don't know anything because he is the doctor. Not very patient friendly.

on time - welcoming staff - Dr . Patel listened very carefully to my history, made the appropriate referral for tests and explained why other tests would not be as helpful - gave me appropriate feedback after tests were done - he was very pleasant and clearly knew what he was doing - I will definitely go back and refer others to him.

Unfortunately, this practice is failing in the customer service department. I was a patient of Dr. Patel's for 12 years and now I will be replacing him with another practice. The practice has either grown to fast and all that they are after is the money or they have hired people that do not care about the patients. I have referred many people to this practice, and have heard the same negative response. If you want to just go to the doctors and be treated like a robot then you need to go here. If you want to be treated with respect, you better find you another place to visit.

I had worked with Dr. Patel in the hospital where I was employed and thought he was great until I became his patient. I was in terrible pain and they ran a ton of lab tests and then he did a colonoscopy. At the follow up appoinment he carelessly brushed aside any abnormal lab work and told me that he didn't find anything "significant" during the colonoscopy. Then he proceeded to tell me that my pain was most likely psychosomatic and suggested that I see a psychiatrist about it. My bottom jaw hit the floor. I couldn't believe it and couldn't figure out how he came up with this idea. I left in tears of rage. Long story short...3 months and 2 doctors later I was on an O.R. table at DUKE having major open abdominal surgery for this condition that Dr. Patel decided was all in my head. I called his office to inform him of what had been found and they wouldn't let me speak to him and had the politically correct Nurse Practitioner discuss it with me. They did allow me to switch to another… doctor in the practice which they don't normally do (damage control). Even though the office doesn't run smoothly and is not welcoming, the doctors there still have THE BEST reputation in the area and I continue to be a patient there when needed.
