He was the worse surgeon. He crippled me and left town in the middle of the night to another country for 4 yrs or more. Didnt even tell the people that worked for him that he was leaving, they showed up to work and his office was cleaned out. Last I heard hes back working for Mercy and only see certain patients he oks. Wouldn't even talk or see me to tell me why. Beware. It's been 6 years Dec 10.still in alot of pain. With a crooked spine, 40%of my left side is off and no one wants to do surgery on me to fix it

Amazing surgeon, down to earth discussion of condition. Realistic approach to recovery. He literally saved me from a devastating injury.

Nice but to the point. I like the way he explains what is wrong and what he is going to do. He and his staff are very kind and professional.

Dr. Backer has fixed me up twice now with the last time as an emergency situation to remove a fragment from my L4/L5 region. He took the time to call(before & after surgery) my wife who was out of town to fully explain what was going on. I recommend him highly!

He is wonderful...Knew I was going to china and did surgery 3 days before, in the evening, so he could see if I was fine and still make my trip...It's been 3 years and my neck is great..And other than carring anything, the trip went great

Dr. Robert Backer was my 3rd opinion on what may need to be done to fix my problem. I absolutely loved him and the way he treated me. He didnt rush me or pass the problems off as being "normal" . I felt very comfortable with his diagnosis and treatment plans/options. He works out of St Johns or St Lukes...... both Great Hospitals.
