Dr. Robert Michael Galler, DO

Not a good experience. Inattentive to detail. Very poor judgement Of the obvious.

I'm glad to read that many had success using Dr. Galler. My experience was very different. At the consultation he was as confident as could be. Disparaging orthopedic surgeons awhile telling me neurosurgeons where untouchable in their experience and knowledge as compared to orthopedic surgeons. He was to do a partial laminotomy and remove a small disc bulge. I work up to severe pain that I didn't feel before. I came to only to find the nurse was already injecting the second liquid dilaudid vile into my IV and went for three which got me home. I could not walk. He sent me to pain management for 6 months where I received injections that were useless and they took me off of all pain killers after week two claiming that I was addicted to them, idiots. I told them over and over of the pain and they could see that I couldn't walk on my own. Finally the pain management doctor (Raanan) sends me for an MRI. He tells me that I need to go back to Galler. Galler is now without the bravado. He… sheepishly tells me that he can maybe go back in and "clean it up". By the eight month of being in fetal position only on my left side with pain so intense I kept asking god to take me, I finally got hold of an orthopedic surgeon from the Hospital for Special Surgery. The first thing he asks me as he is looking at the MRI is if I was told if anything went wrong during the first surgery. I knew they screwed up but when the doctor told me that there was NO disc left, it was worse than I thought. I wasn't looking to sue, I just wanted the pain to stop and MAYBE walk again. I had a fusion done in Manhattan. I can walk again, the pain is much less but the nerve was left permanently damaged and I still have bad pain. I had nothing but incompetence and cover up with Galler and the Stony Brook Team he belonged to.

If I can breathe again, I live with the help of a doctor, Robert M. Galler. Thank you forever.

My husband is Dr. Gallers patient so I'm writing the review from the both of us. The first time we met Dr. Galler was 10 years ago for his first lumbar fusion. My husband was sent to Dr. Galler on an emergency basis and was in surgery 4 days later. I cannot speak highly enough about Dr. Gallers skills, caring, communication, patience and compassion. In total my husband has had 3 spinal surgeries, one being this year. We are so thankful for this amazing Dr. We feel truly blessed to have met him and to have had him in our corner at some very stressful times. If you are in need of a neurosurgeon we highly recommend Dr. Galler. He's an incredible surgeon. He and his staff means so much to us.

Hate to say it but absolutely disgusted with Dr Galler. I will admit that the surgery my wife had was a success but the before and after care that was provided by Dr Galler was pathetic. He will act friendly and professional prior to surgery but afterwards was a different story. If you have any concerns of suffering after the surgery, trust me, you will. He can care less about you after. My wife and I followed everything he instructed and now I'm watching my wife suffer. The multiple visits we had with him, he assured us that my wife would be ok afterwards. He explained that the best course of treatment would be seeing a pain management doctor right after surgery in the hospital and we did. The pain management doctor came up with a great plan to follow when we got discharged and we agreed. I was very happy that my wife was going to be ok once we got home. Well dr Galler went against the pain management doctor and pretty much sent my wife home with nothing. I reached out to dr Galler… and expressed how bad my wife was and he was pretty much heartless. Didn't want to hear anything I had to say and just said he's not dealing with this now. So now as my wife is up all night, crying and suffering cause of being in tremendous discomfort, Dr Galler can give two $hits. Just really surprised on how judgemental and cold he can be now that surgery is done. I wouldn't wish the pain my wife is going through on anyone. Dr Galler took an oath which is something he does not stand by. Go with someone else

I have been in pain 40 years with my cervical spine have issues there and arm issues and fibromyalgia . I was told for years to speak to neurosurgeon because i got no relief from other remedies including shots . I was very frightened i am a professional musician / vocalist and also had thyroid surgery yrs ago and i have some swallow issues . My voice is my most precious gift and i had reservations about getting fusion and getting the consult. When i met with Dr. Galler i was spoken to like a person and he listened to me and my fears and he read my MRI and he said i am not a candidate for surgery and it not what i need. I was shocked and so happy his honesty and he explained everything from the MRI and said down the road if things change dont hesitate to come back. I appreciate his integrity and sincerity if i need sugery he would be my first choise. It feels good to know there are Drs people can put their faith in .

I had L4L5 with fusion a month ago,and I feel great,walking one mile plus a day,thanks Dr galler, a great neurosurgeon.

Was very attentive & listened to what I had to say. Gave me options. Explained surgery in a way I could understand. Best thing I ever did. Couldn't thank him enough.

Stay away from this disgusting excuse for a doctor. He basically told me I was fat thats whats causing my pain. Then left the room. What doctor does that?

Very professional. Very happy with the results my surgery and all my dealings with Dr Galler and staff. Highly recommend him. I was in Stony Brook for 1 night after my surgery and I was very impressed by the quality of the care I received.
