A year after being diagnosed with atrial fibrillation, I requested a consultation with a cardiologist surgeon. The surgeon advised me that the ER doctor and the referred cardiologist, Dr. Gillespie, incorrectly diagnosed me. He pointed to the EKG and stated that it clearly showed that I did NOT have atrial fibrillation. He advised me to stop taking the blood thinner that the cardiologist prescribed because it was unnecessary, and that an ablation procedure would eliminate the problem. The procedure was a success, and I have had no further issues with my heart rate. I believe that if I had been properly diagnosed in the beginning this issue could have been resolved much sooner and less aggravating.

For someone with a serious problem you might want to look somewhere else for someone who has real knowledge and doesn't mind taking the time to listen.

Dr Gillespie was seated in the row in front of me; 25 minutes into our flight from Chicago to San Diego a request was made over the loud speaker requesting a doctor. Without hesitation he assisted an elderly woman having difficulty and changed his seat to attend to her needs for the remainder of the flight. I was very impressed with his bedside manner!
