He was the most genuine person and explained everything in a manner in which I could understand. I found his care to be excellent, he attended to all of my needs and carefully explained everything that was going to happen. I could not have asked for a better physician! I would highly recommend him for head and neck cancer!

We will not recommend this doctor or St. Elizabth Hospital Appleton, WI where he sees patients. show details We will not recommend this doctor or St. Elizabth Hospital Appleton, WI where he sees patients.

Not the best doctor to see if you need a medical opinion about having radiation. He had not done his home work, i.e. had not read the medical reports of my wife who had recurrence a post mastectomy. I had fully expected the good doctor to at least to have cursory glance at the medical report. He had decided, without even having the background information to get her in the machine to zap her. He jumped at scheduling a simulation to start the treatment. He did not once wonder about tumor margins, explain his rational for the treatment he thought was needed and discounted several of our concerns. Such as risk of lymphoma, he was not aware how many lymph nodes were removed. His suggestion was to radiate everything. He did snot consult the pathology report nor did see the reason to do so. It generally seemed that all he wanted to do was just radiate. And please note the way he charges. When we made the appointment with him, it was with a referral and was supposed to be a specialist consultation at St. Elizabeth Hospital Oncology department where he sees patients. Our co-pay for a specialist is $20. However we got a bill for $580, we still have not got a bill for Dr. Kohl.Of the $580 we are responsible for $340 due to the way the billing was done by his office. $580 charge is facility charge that St.Elizabeth and this guy charges, the billing for the consultation was done as a procedure even though it was a consultation. Upon a call to his office we were told, and I quote, "what does it matter, this goes under the deductible." During the consultation he did say that he will do something about his bill, that we did not have to worry about his bill, if we decided to go through the treatment with him, thanks but we were more concerned about the treatment. We still think that the charge is unethical. Any way this is not a money matter, just unethical to charge a patient $580 to walk into the building. I must say that there are other doctors who do not charge like this at the same practice, but any way we switched from St. Elizabeth to Appleton Medical Center. My advice to you is to do the same. I gave 5 stars to ease of appointment, it is quite easy to get an appointment but you should wonder why.
