Prompt, courteous, answers questions clearly. Neither Dr.Lacin nor his staff ever made me feel like I was a moron being jammed through a system intended to hurry me up instead of understanding and treating me.
Hands down one of the worst experiences with a doctor I've ever had someone living with a genetic illness, I have spent a lot of time in and out of doctors appointments and this one was by far the most emotionally disturbing due to the way I was treated.
This man looks at you and makes it sound like he care's. Ye is part of a network of doctors in NC who are all about the WC and other insurances. If you are on WC you will find very quickly he will make it sound as if you are fine without doing 1 single test.
Fantastic doctor! I could not ask for a better surgeon for my dad. As a nurse I am picky but he is an all around great doctor.
FANTASTIC, VERY CONCERNED, VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE PHYSICIAN. HE AND HIS STAFF ARE A !!
He was very quick!! Not too sympathetic!! Find another doc!!good luck!!:)
Run from this person as fast as you can. His only thought is the money and not your health. He is a liar and a con. Stay away!
Unwilling to be bothered, with an office staff who were dismissive, discourteous and unhelpful. He apparently would not be bothered to come to the ER/trauma clinic in the early evening (weekday approx. 5-9 p.m.) to see my daughter even though he was the designated on-call doctor, which resulted in her having to be admitted to the hospital overnight. We were told he'd come the next morning, but inexplicably he never showed up and finally about 5 p.m. the next day sent his P.A. instead (who was obviously rushed). By that time there was no point. We had more compassion, better service and better information provided by the vendor rep who (though not a licensed medical professional) fitted and applied a neck brace (Aspen collar) around my daughter's neck (unlike Dr. Lacin, he actually showed up that evening in response to being paged on-call). Then, for a follow up appointment two weeks later his staff was disorganized and inefficient and rude, refusing my proactive request for new patient forms at our on-time arrival. The waiting room was packed and it was clear there would be a long wait (well over an hour). When I complained, I was treated like a kid called into the principal's office and asked if I wanted to find another doctor. I said no, I just wanted medical services for my daughter, but the office manager said I had a bad attitude and then evidently consulted with Dr. Lacin, who refused to honor the appointment or see my daughter and I was told we'd be given a referral and to sit and wait, which we did. I said fine but asked to speak with him myself because I thought his staff was mispresenting me. After another 15 minutes wait, I was told they would not give me a referral and that he refused to speak with me and told to leave. Arrogance permeates this practice/office/staff. I see two comments here that Dr. Lacin is a jerk. I wish I could say better. Best to find another doctor and practice. Good luck.
I have had two surgeries for unrelated problems during the past 15 years by Dr. Lacin. His skills and knowledge combined with kindness made a real difference in my quality of life. Thank you dedicating your life to helping people!
Dr. Lacin is highly competent, intelligent and interested in his patients. He and his PA are very responsive if a problem arises. He is my choice for any back problems that should arise in the future.
Dr Lacin was chosen to operate on my cervical spine in 2008. I was very pleased overall with his manner, compassion and office staff, which is one of the things that can make or break a practice, regardless of how good a MD is. In 2010, my husband needed emergency surgery on his c-spine as well, and we chose Dr Lacin again, and we have been pleased. He is kind and caring, answers questions and explains everything, never making us feel stupid for asking questions. He came in to do my husband's surgery on his probably badly needed day off so he wouldn't have to lose more function by waiting another day. This man is HIGHLY recommended by both of us.If we ever have a need, we consider him our doctor for any neurosurgical problems.
Dr. Lacin and staff provided outstanding care from initial visit to post-surgery follow up. I'm an orthopedic physical therapist with many years experience treating back patients and having my own injuries and prior surgery to base this review upon. Dr. Lacin more than earned an excellent review from me. Besides feeling terrific post-op, two things stick out particularly: Dr. Lacin diagnosed a very specific cause for my sciatica from reading my MRI film that the radiologist had missed entirely and which my second opinion neurosurgeon did not mention. This impressed me, but more importantly that let him perform a specific minimal surgery on my back to remove this problem; when I woke up from surgery my foot pain was gone after 18 months, and it was done as an outpatient surgery. My second opinion doctor proposed a larger surgery that would have required a overnight stay and much longer recovery time. Dr. Lacin called me after I'd left the hospital to see how I was doing, and he had put a lot of time before surgery into finding OR time to fit me into his already full schedule. His efforts and the communication with his PAC exceeded my expectations of a busy surgeon. I had not known him before surgery except by reputation and cannot recommend him highly enough.
Very rude. Gave incorrect information about treatment of my back problem.
Dr Lacin is the Expert in his field. He is the epitome of a true professional who cares about his patients. He corrected a low back problem that others have been working for over two years. I highly recommend him
Perfomed two level cervical fusion. I improved at first and then started getting worse. Ignored my complaints and referred me to a neurologist. Sought another NS who discovered through xray and CT scan that I was not fused at one level and fixed problem with another surgery. Dr. Lacin was impatient and condescending when I expressed intial concerns. So glad I found another NS who listened and did appropriate tests to diagnose problem. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND DR. LACIN
I was referred to Dr. Lacin after being told I would be paralyzed within 6 months if I did not have surgery. Dr. Lacin, from the start, was direct, honest and made sure we understood everything before having surgery. Does he hold your hand and pat you on the back...no. But, personally, I'm more interested in his ability as a surgeon than being treated with kid gloves. Without Dr. Lacin, I would not be walking today. He and his staff were more than professional and I would recommend him to anyone needing neurosurgery.
Two of our family members had surgery by Dr. Lacin. He is by far the most competent, compassionate and professional doctor we have ever met. One of our family members had a brain tumor in a very sensitive area of the brain and the other one a neck problem. Both of them recovered fully, without any problems from these difficult surgeries. We highly recommend this outstanding surgeon to anyone.
I don't have anything negative to say about Dr. Lacin. I found him to be very supportive thru the whole procedure & his "bedside manner" was excellent - beleive me I've had some jerks for doctor's. Once I was recovered from surgery I was sent to a neurologist for continuing care as he's a neurosurgeon. (that may be where people thought that he didn't care any longer)
Dr. Lacin initially said he would remove a benign brain tumor that was located between my optic nerve and carotid artery within a month. Then he said he wanted to wait six months since the tumor was benign and wouldn't grow very much or very fast. Thankfully, I sought a second opinion and when the tumor was removed two months after being diagnosed, it was found to have grown unexpectedly fast. Grown to the point it was touching my optic nerve already. If I had followed Dr. Lacin's advice, I would have awaited until the tumorenveloped my optic nerve and thus, possibly left me blind in one eye.
I can not be critical at all regarding Dr. Lacin's medical skills, but I am disappointed in his bedside manner and impatience after surgery. He can be condescending as well when you have questions or issues after surgery & recovery is underway. He seems to want to move on to other patients and your case should be over. For this reason, I can't give him a four star rating.
Dr Lacin is very nice and sympathetic. He seems very knowledgable and was, at first, very comforting. As I got better and came in for subsequent visit i felt as if i was being rushed out. I have mix feelings about dr lacin. I wish he'd spend more time with patients but he is very supportive when you do see him. I didn't like that he wasn't very keen on PT for my injury
