Dr. Robert Alan Mericle, MD

Dr Mericle is the best. He did my mvd in March 2023. I am still healing but no PAIN. I could never thank Dr. Mericle enough. His name says it all he did a miracle for me .

2 years ago this month, Dr. Mericle performed MVD for TN. I had an extensive conversation with him prior to the surgery asking for possible negative results, so that I could make a well informed decision whether to have the surgery or not. He painted a very pretty picture, saying there was a 1 to 2 percent chance of numbness, but that was all. What he failed to even mention was the result I had, which is AD, Anesthesia Dolorosa. Please research this as much as possible before you agree to the surgery. This is the worst possible thing I can imagine. It is incurable, gets worse over time. The skin on the right side of my face and head, including eye, nose and mouth are completely numb to the touch. If you itch, you can't scratch, if you eat, it's very difficult to swallow, and you can damage the area without knowing it, I lost 50 pounds in about 3 months because I choked every time I ate. I had a severe corneal abrasion from scratching my eyeball in my sleep, nearly lost my vision, and… it has taken over a year to heal as much as it can. You may think numbness may not be so bad, but you also have almost unbearable constant pain below the surface of the skin, mine is like a bed of hot coals. It never stops for an instant, and over time it gets worse. It is a life sentence. You may think that is enough to make a decision, but there is more. In the last few months I have developed TN again on top of all that. My life is ruined. I'm not saying don't have the surgery, it can end in a wonderful result. I just recommend that you be completely informed, and if you decide to go ahead with it, I would strongly recommend another surgeon.

Never got to see the doctor the nurse wanted me get epudural i have already had them before never got any relief .Wanted to see Mericle MD had a lot of people said he was very good i dont know

Dr mericle, I believe is great doctor but he has let his practice become a money grab. You don't see him you see his assistants whom has no idea what they are doing and I am very sick. Instead they are collecting money and sending people to get pain drugs. Unless you want an angiogram which he now owns his own practice with that. He has no time for you.

Went to see Dr. Mericle after being referred to him by one of his patients that reported that he was generous, kind, professional, and gave her back her life. I waited months to get an appmt. after being diagnosed with a chiari I malformation with syringomyelia with many symptoms that were becoming incapacitating for me. After waiting a long time in the waiting room, then in an exam room, Dr. Mericle came in and told me that he didn't have time for me because he had students with him. The only thing he told me about my issues were that we needed to watch and see. Then he just walked out of the room. I wasn't even sure we were done yet. I followed him a few minutes after he left me sitting in that room and was told to leave and was escorted out by staff. I felt very disrespected and paid a very high fee for the visit. I would never go back or suggest him to anyone. As a disabled RN I no longer have insurance or the access to healthcare d/t no income. So I live in chronic poor health. He… might have given me treatment that would have improved my quality of life but he chose to disregard me. I have a lot of experience working with physicians and can say that as a nurse and a patient that this was very poor treatment indeed.

There was some problem with return phone calls at first but this was cleared up later.
