Don’t send your kids to this doctor. Trust me. You’ll leave with more issues than you started with. Find someone better.

Just happened to land on this page and could not leave without posting a review, which is actually 10 years since my last experience with Dr. Truding. This is a somewhat long review, but perhaps worth the read. At two months of age our second daughter became incapable of ingesting food (breast milk or formula), which presented like a virus or cold. However, her condition continued beyond a reasonable duration for that diagnosis and she was energetic and playful throughout. However, she was unable to hold down even 10mL of breast milk or formula, and vomited after ingesting anything except Pedialite. After daily consultations and visits with our pediatrician, who maintained that diagnosis for almost seven days, we took her to Beaumont hospital. She was listed as malnourished and dehydrated upon her check-in at triage and she was admitted. My wife and I felt like awful parents for holding to our pediatrician's recommendations for as long as we did. The attending doctor also… interpreted her condition as a virus and flagged her room for rotovirus. After again suggesting that our daughter was "fine" and "ready to go home", the doctor insisted that we again try feeding her. She again vomited almost immediately. Later that afternoon, Dr. Truding visited us and evaluated our daughter. He seemed to immediately suspect what he later confirmed after an expedited endoscopy and colonoscopy...she had presented with autoimmune enteropathy, a rare digestive disease that causes the immune system to attack the bowel causing it to become inflamed and the patient to fail to thrive due to the inability to absorb nutrients. We were informed that it was unlikely that our daughter would survive and if she did she would almost certainly be on a central line to receive food for the duration of her life. She was on TPN as a food source and receiving adult dosage steroids for three weeks in the pediatric unit, meanwhile failing all attempts to receive even the simplest formula orally, which was in the form of digested amino acids. Finally, on the sixth attempt, she responded and was able to hold the formula. After the six following months of high dosage steroids, routine visits with Dr. Truding, and slow introduction of other nutrients over two years...fast forward to today, our daughter is in full remission and lives a happy, healthy life. I have seen comments on this page in regard to Dr. Truding's personality, responsiveness, demeanor, etc. Let me testify as a parent of a once dying child and someone who has interfaced with him extensively throughout treatment...none of that matters. Robert Truding knows exactly when to act and what to do relative to gastrointestinal conditions. He presents you with the information that you need to know, he does not waste time with anything else, and he cares first and foremost about your child...not necessarily you. Some might interpret that as arrogant or impersonal, but it isn't. I struggled with it at first also but have since thanked God over and over for the miracle that Dr. Truding just happened to be resident Pediatric Gastroenterologist on staff at the Royal Oak William Beaumont Hospital on the day we walked in. I truly believe that if he hadn't, she would not be with us today. Do some research and you will understand!

My son was diagnosed with Crohn's disease at age 5 after spending almost 2 weeks in Children's Hospital in downtown Detroit. A year later he still was running high fevers and had terrible stomach pain. We switched to Dr. Truding and he changed his treatment plan and had his symptoms reduced drastically. I have never been forced Into doing anything we were not comfortable with, He has been patient with our questions and concerns. And truly doesn't want to see any child suffer. He has been caring for my son for 9 years now. I recommend him to everyone I know. Yes we were told there was a long wait to see him, but we asked for first available/cancelation. And saw him within a month.

When I submitted my son's paperwork to his staff, Dr Truding never responded directly to me. He just had his head nurse dismiss our concerns and tell us we could schedule an appointment 10 months in the future if we wanted a consultation.

Dr. Truding is an amazing gastroenterologist! With a national reputation, we switched our son's care from a pediatric hospital after many several months of hospitalizations. This hospital uses Dr. Truding as a second opinion in difficult cases. After being under his care, our stress level went completely down. Although Beaumont is much further, and stressful driving, there is no other doctor we trust. The hospital and doctors we left are only 15 min. from our house but it definitely is worth the hour drive for our son's serious medical issues. We will be forever grateful for making the decision to change gastro doctors!!

Kind, compassionate, intelligent. Truly cares for his patients and their family. Does not force treatment on patients-instead instructs in benefits/risks and allows pt/parents to make decision. Outstanding follow up afterhours, weekends, holidays. He has given us such peace of mind in dealing with our daughters Crohn's disease-could not recommend more highly.

Dr. Trudging is great with my daughter who is 8, but was 7 when she was dig nosed with crohns. He listens and is very compassionate with my daughter and me. I believe he really cares about his patients and families. My daughter loves him.

Dr. Truding is an outstanding and caring physician. He is truly an expert and has always taken the time to explain everything to us and to answer all of our questions about our son's diagnosis. He has called us very quickly with test results, including evenings and weekends. He is truly dedicated to his patients and their families, and we are so fortunate to have him as our son's doctor.

Dr. Truding is thorough, compassionate and very down to earth - he was good with my daughter (6 years old) and talked to her in a way she would understand. He was also good with us (her parents) - prior to initial diagnosis we felt we were in crisis mode waiting for pathology reports - he calmed us down and helped us understand - - I trust him COMPLETELY with the care of my daughter - he has called on on Saturdays & even Sunday evening with Pathology results - to ease my mind - - he is the BEST and will be caring for our daughter as long as we can have him with her.
