Dr. Roberto Augusto Miki, MD

Stay away from this doctor. My 98 year old mother had a follow up visit with Miki in which he did absolutely nothing to check her injury, not even looking at her hand to see the inflammation and determine the nature of the pain. She was in the exam room for just a few minutes. In addition, we were told by Miki's office that the authorization for physical therapy had been sent out to the insurance company for approval of physical therapy 3 days before the therapy appointment -- in fact, my mother could not have the therapy for the painful injury because the therapy company did not have authorization. we found out later that day of the visit that the fax authorization had been sent to the insurance AFTER the therapy visit. This is a complete fraud bi Miki for the useless visit and complete incompetence and lies by his office for the therapy authorization. As I said, STAY AWAY from this doctor and his office.

I've been meaning to write this for a while but had a great experience with the Doctor and an even better experience with his staff. Had a little issue with my insurance but the office coordinator Lourdes did an amazing job and was able to help me out and get everything resolved so that my procedure would not be delayed!.

While Dr Miki may be a good doctor, his arrogance bad communication skills make me go somewhere else for care. Doctors need to take care of the whole patient!

I have been a patient of Dr. Miki for about 10 years or more. He injected my sacroiliad joint at the University of Miami facility about 10 years ago. I also saw him at Miami Hand Center on 37th Ave. before he opened this new practice on Sunset Drive with Dr. Daniel Alfonso. I saw him at this new facility when I fractured my right wrist two years ago and he treated me for the fracture and for osteopoenia. He is a very friendly, attentive listener, technically very competent, professional and I have the highest regard for him as a Doctor. My complaint was with the front office receptionist. I have an HMO Medicare Advantage Plan that requires a referral to see Dr. Miki because he is a Specialist. My PCP have me a referral on a prescription pad signed by him. The receptionist stated that she could not accept this as a referral as it had to be a form faxed in by the PCP showing the Plan approved the referral. I asked her if she or the insurance verification rep could call the PCP to ask… them to fax the form and she said no that I had to do it myself and that I could not be seen by Dr. Miki until the faxed form was received. I called the PCP and they said they would fax the form in a few minutes so I asked her if I could be seen by the physician assistant that prepares the initial intake form for the doctor. Again she said no in a very curt manner and that when i began to cry telling her that my father was extremely ill from heart failure and I could not wait much longer and to please ask Dr. Miki if he would make an exception to see me because I needed to get back to the hospital. She then told me that she had asked him and he had told her that he could not make an exception for me. The fax came in a few minutes after and I explained to Dr. Miki what had happened and he said that he had told her to please ask me to come in. I'm sure that he would follow up with her and perhaps offer her some sensitivity training in handling patients that are senior and are going through difficult family circumstances. In fact, common courtesy and empathy should be standard protocol for any patient.

The best hand surgeon in miami

Dr. Miki is a great doctor, but the office located at 2750 SW 37th Ave Coconut Grove, FL is very unprofessional and disorganized. I had a scheduled appt for Thursday 4:30 pm, to discuss possible surgery. Two days before appt date office called to change 4:30 to 4:00. At 2:48 appt date they called to inform us we need to go right away to the office. I said we needed to see the doctor but will take 45 min to get there and they told me I should have been informed that the doctor was not there, the practitioner was going to see me.

I went to this office with an small fracture of a second joint of a pinky finger and after 6 weeks I ended with a very bad result. The fracture was bad, the finger had a second, third degree burn and the first joint was damage. The office staff are very unprofessional. They hang up the phone on you, they say they will call you back and they never do. When you call with extreme pain they don't pass you the doctor, neither his assistant but they do say it is normal. I never imagine to write something like this but please pay attention to those details.

Dr. Miki is an excellent physician. He is caring, intelligent and quite skilled in his craft. Highly recommended!
