Dr. Alterman is a magna cum laude graduate of the University of Pennsylvania, from which he received a Bachelor of Arts in Molecular Biology in 1982. He was also selected to the Alpha Omega National Medical Honor Society. During his training at Montefiore Medical Center, he was awarded a research grant from the American Brain Tumor Association to continue his studies of the role of growth receptors in the progression of malignant brain tumors.
