Dr. Ruth Ann Vleugels is a dermatologist affiliated with Boston Children’s Hospital and an associate professor of dermatology at Harvard Medical School who specializes in pediatric and adult autoimmune and inflammatory skin diseases, including atopic dermatitis, lupus, scleroderma, dermatomyositis, vasculitis, and other connective tissue disorders. She serves as co-director of the Rheumatology-Dermatology Program at Boston Children’s Hospital and holds multiple leadership roles at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, including Director of the Autoimmune Skin Disease Program and Director of the Atopic Dermatitis Program. Dr. Vleugels earned her medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine and completed her internship, dermatology residency, and fellowship training in Boston. I wish I could give Dr. Vleugels ten stars. When countless doctors and hospitals couldn't figure out what was wrong, she diagnosed a condition of mine before fully stepping into the room. Her knowledge, and her kindness, keep her at the top of my medical team list. If only I could bottle her up and take her home or at least sprinkle some of her magic dust onto other physicians I've had over the last two decades.

I was misdiagnosed for 3+ years. Went to Dr. Vleugels who had additional tests conducted. Referred me for additional follow-up. Correct diagnosis and treatment. Wonderful doctor.

I had a skin condition that three other doctors could not diagnose. Dr. Vleugels identified it within minutes and explained how it should be treated. It is a chronic condition but now I can treat it quickly when it flares up. So now a frequently painful condition is really a minor issue for me.

Dr. Vleugels was knowledgeable, friendly, and accurately diagnosed my condition (after another dermatologist misdiagnosed it.) Her treatment regimen has also been working well! I would recommend her to anyone.
