Dr. Safwan Malas, MD

Dr. Malas takes his time explaining what he thinks is going on. He didn’t delay in starting testing for my daughter at all, and was very compassionate when I had concerns. I highly recommend Dr. Malas.

Excellent Dr.. He treated my son 14 years ago and is still the best physician! My son had lots of problems and was misdiagnosed so I did not trust anyone ....untill we met Dr. Safwan. Thank you!

Nurses were not caring at all!!

We've been going to this practice for almost five years. Dr. Malas is a gem for the lansing area. He is a Pediatric Gastronenterologist - a difficult and quite frankly, discouraging field to be in! He has to make decisions everyday that may not be the news a parent wants to hear! He saved our daughter's life this year and we are very grateful. She had previously gone to the Cleveland Clinic, and had been going to U of M Children's Hospital (after he sent us there) but they were not managing her case very well so he took it back and literally reversed her condition. After riding a roller coaster of health under the U of M doctor, from Dr. Malas' care she is now in a remission. I saw the note someone made earlier about the drugs and prescribing lots of medicines, and I also felt the same way at first. It is shocking to have your child take all of these unknown and strange pills - and as a parent, you don't want a lot of "junk" in your child's system. But he knows his stuff and the… medicines really do reverse/treat the diseases well. I would also like to add that he often recommends natural remedies and is constantly looking for alternatives to the drugs. He is very open-minded when it comes to alternative approaches, which is not the norm for most doctors we have dealt with, especially pediatric gastroenterologists. I really can't recommend him enough. I think as parents we tend to forget that specialists are different than regular pediatricians and want service the same day we call - just like we can in our primary care offices (which usually have many multiples of doctors). This is not the case for a specialist - and because there are just the two doctors in this area, they are always swamped! Future predications in the medical field are that we will not have as many specialists as we have now and can you imagine the wait or having to go elsewhere for care? I am grateful for Dr. Malas!

Dr. Malas is not a good doctor. He only will schedule to see my daughter annually despite her still having pain and constipation. None of his suggestions to change her situation have made a difference, he seems very big on drug pushing and ordering tests with no follow up. I'm doing a better job of managing her care with natural things like prunes and probiotics.He called my daughter obese in front of her, when she isn't. She's 9 years old and has been off the height/weight chart for years. Currently she's 4'7" and 89 lbs-that isn't fat.

My daughter has been with him sence 2002 and he is the only doc. who sees her at this time. I have had nothing but great experances with him. He is very caring and the nurse is very allert of each case.

Dr. Malas is a dedicated and extremely capable physician. He came to the hospital at 3 AM and saved my son's life. I will never forget him. He is an extraordinary physician. I recommend him highly and without reservation.
