Dr. Sai Babu Chundu, MD

One of the rudest psychiatrists I have ever worked with. From the start, his comments about nurse practitioners came across as dismissive and condescending, as if he viewed them as inferior because he is an MD, which was an immediate red flag. When I questioned how he arrived at my diagnosis, he lectured me about his years of experience and suggested I “read a book” on mood disorders. He interrupted me multiple times and eventually insisted I respond only with yes or no answers. His bedside manner was terrible, and he clearly does not welcome patient questions or input. He seemed more focused on being right than on collaborating with patients to develop a treatment plan both sides are comfortable with. His arrogance and entitlement likely explain why so many of his reviews are negative.

He’s a complete asshole. He asked ME what I needed to do. I’m an ER/trauma unit nurse. I have worked with many different kinds of Drs. This guy is in the wrong field. He only gave me one chance before he dropped me and told me to get a 2nd opinion cause I was not allowing him to speak to me as if I was nothing!! I told him we don’t jive and he quickly said, “have a good day. Bye” first time I saw him was dec 27th, he gave me one month trial of new meds. After being on meds for several months that didn’t work for me, I was hesitant to take new meds. So, I was honest about it with him. He didn’t care. I understand there is a HUGE cultural difference as I’m also ethnic. But he is definitely in the wrong field. How people still see him is beyond me! You should value your mental health. He is not one to help you get to that point.

Feels as though he treats his patients like cattle. Asks a series of questions, doesn't want you to talk other than yes or no answers, then prescribes meds. I did well on the meds until he kept increasing the dose saying this is how the meds work. Then the too high of dose created my head to shake with tremors. On my search it indicated this was a side effect, but all he said was 'see a neurologist'. I called my doctor, told him what Dr. Chundu said and he immediately said that he will take over my care and meds from this point and there was no reason to increase the meds when I felt good at a lower dose. His every action and words indicate he doesn't care about his patients. In fact, it felt to me like I was a bother to him in our first and only appointment as he's the only psychiatrist I've ever seen. He really needs to retire and allow patients to be referred to a doctor who cares. Kaiser referred me to him and I will also let them know of my horrible experience.

On my first appointment I felt like he did not take the time to listen instead he started stating things that did not sound like what I was saying and I corrected him he still didn't listen. After that appointment I said to myself maybe it's because it's the first meeting but on this second one he told me I shouldn't listen to my therapist because they're only there to help with my emotions in a very aggressive manner after i told him that the therapist suggested I get evaluated for adhd. It's already hard for me to talk about my problems and he made me feel worse that I almost broke down after the appointment. I recommend looking for someone else as I did.

I agree with person that said he doesn’t listen to concerns or explain anything. He actually never gave me my diagnosis, just overly medicated me. I figured out what I had later by viewing the notes. He doesn’t like you expressing your opinion about the meds either. As someone with mental health issues I need someone I can rely on and he was not that person at all

Office staff is rude and completely incompetent.

I thought I should put in a review because based upon the reviews it seems he may be at times unfairly judged. Even so, I was a bit nervous about seeing this provider. I have been afraid to address my need for treatment my ADD due to being stigmatized-not only by others-but also by the doctor himself since I am an older patient who finally decided to seek help again after a long time of dealing with them on my own. The good thing about reading the reviews before my appointment yesterday is that I was prepared for the worst as I hoped for the best. I do take some of the reviews understand that people go into their appointments expect ing psychiatrists to also provide psychotherapy. This is not true and has not been for a long time so I did expect that. This provider is clearly not here to provide a warm fuzzy therapeutic environment. He also likes to keep the assessment moving forward in a linear fashion. Since staying on task (and topic) makes up a part of the core of my issues, I was… fine with his business approach, occasional redirection, and requests for specific information. By the end of the assessment, I felt that he thoroughly evaluated my needs and addressed them very appropriately and without judgement. That is all I was looking for.

I am the daughter of one of Dr. Chundu’s patients. He is very rude and he does not do a thorough evaluation of his patients. After repeatedly interrupting me over the phone he hung up on me. He does not listen to concerns, explain his findings, or even pay attention to detail. Unfortunately all he does is make sure his patients are medicated properly.

My daughter has autism we call to make appointment and the receptionist she said the doctor not attending autism people can they explain what's psychiatric Word covered can't you doctor can specify In your web site with red words I NOT ATTENDING AUTISM PEOPLE
