Dr. Geraldine Sherry Huey You, MD

Was a patient for almost a decade and during a difficult time she ghosted me and never tried to contact me to see if i was still alive. She is NEVER on time, even for her first appointment of the day. She has no experience with substance abuse (one of my main issues) and compared my cocaine habit with smoking cigars. She is all about the money and not really interested in someone's mental health. She is a good actor tho, hence the 10 years i stayed with her but it became increasingly evident that she doesnt actually care about her patients. She has ruined my opinion on psychiatry and I will probably never see one again.

Dr. Huey has been a very helpful psychiatrist. I would suggest that her bedside manner might be better suited for patients with either a good sense of self/patient advocacy or at least a strong interest in being fully honest and forward in how the medicines affect them and what they are comfortable with. Recently diagnosed with ADHD, she has been very helpful in working with me on options my ADHD symptoms. ADHD medicines are very personal in effectiveness, and she has been flexible but cautious and patient as we have tried several before coming to the most effective types, combination, and dosages for my mind & body. Her primary treatment is through medicine--sometimes encouraging medicine for sleep and anxiety that I was hesitant about, tried, but did not feel comfortable with the side effects. But, she has been responsive and flexible with me, always persisting, though, in understanding the benefits and side effects, while providing recommendations, as needed.

Just wanted to write a candid review of my experience with Dr Huey . I have been a long time pt who has suffered from depression with poor response to medication. She was so patient with me and encouraged me to hang in there many times when I thought I couldn’t . I waited while she worked hard to get my meds just right. I thought I would never say this but I’m so happy! She has changed my life! If u need a dr who is patient and kind and treats the whole person then this is the dr for u! She is worth any small wait u might have . I can’t say enough abt dr Huey. She truly helps people in need with a kind bedside manner. I am forever great full!

Dr. Huey You is a true professional. She was very focused on my issues and showed concern. I would highly recommend her to anyone who has mental illness., of course people do not want admit they have a issue.

To make a long story short: 1) I've waited 4 hours in her office before (shortest I waited was 30 minutes, and that isn't the time I went in for an emergency). 2) She talks about you for maybe 1/8th of the time and the rest she compares you to herself and talks about her family. 3) She diagnosed me with ADD and made me get on a very high dosage of strattera that eventually gave me autonomic nervous system disorder. When I got off of the medicine I had a very hard time focusing on my work and in school, so I talked to some other doctors about a fast-acting ADD med like Adderall or Vyvanse. They all said that's the safest option for the disorder, but Dr. Huey only saw me asking for the medicine as me trying to get them to sell or abuse. She called me a drug addict multiple times and yelled at me about all sorts of things. Ultimately she did not trust me at all and made me feel like I should be locked up rather than a patient. She's rude, I would never recommend her to anyone.

I was diagnosed as bipolar and believed the diagnosis taking drugs that didn't work for several years. After getting a second opinion and not being diagnosed until about the third or fourth visit (instead of just the first) as she learned my background, I found out I have PTSD and anxiety problems, not bipolar. Dr. Huey is the nicest doctor, but never delved into my past to find out I had anger issues due to abuse and anxiety because of it. I hate to think what damage taking unneccessary medications for so long may have caused in the long run.
