overall care was fantastic and would not go anywhere else.
Dr. Bin I is a great and caring doctor. He takes time to go over with me about what to expect before and after surgery. He check in with me daily after the surgery to make sure I am at ease with what to expect with my condition. This is very helpful to me and my care taker. We know what to expect and how to react to my condition so we don't get panic because leg got swell up or the color of the changes after we came home from the hospital. His team is also great. They responded to our question timely.
Dr. Bini is a fantastic surgeon with great follow through. I completely recommend him and his team.
Dr. Bini and his team are awesome! I just had my knee replacement surgery, and it was a beautiful great job. My leg looks great now, and I'm speedy recovering without taking all their pain control medications. I can get rid of my walker in one week after discharged from the hospital. Before my surgery, I worried so much about blood clot , incision infection these issues. Dr. Bini and his team members helped me well prepare before the surgery and clingy followed up after the surgery via healthloop, timely resolving my concerns and issues. I do appreciate Dr. Bini's great works.
Good bedside manner. Willing to address your concerns. Inspires confidence
Dr. Bini was very caring and willing to talk about my concerns pre-operatively. He was encouraging and at the same time realistic about expectations and outcomes. Since I had a previous surgery that was unsuccessful, I was especially concerned about the possible outcomes and he helped me to make a decision with his expertise and honesty. All his staff was helpful, efficient and supported me in every way . Highest recommendation!
With the wide variety of personalities of the UCSF medical team, I felt like I was among friends. I especially appreciate having Physical Therapist, John Henry visit me several times a week to assure me I'm on track.
The ortho surgerical team was excellent. Where I ran into trouble was with the hospital stay and care and the urgency Dr. Bini had in getting me home after surgery.
What I appreciated most was how well-organized the team is. The communication was consistent and quick. I felt like my thoughts , hopes, and concerns were valued. From my initial Dr office, to the preservers class, to my Hospital stay everyone was great. UCSF was a phenomenal experience. Knock on wood that I don't need anything else done, but I would go back to Dr. Bini in a heartbeat.
I very much appreciated the details I was given of my surgical procedure. He would answer all the questions I had before and after the surgery.
All my questions answered . Staff available after my procedure to answer any additional questions I have. Dr. Benny called me before I left the hospital to see how I was doing
From my first appointment to my post-surgical meetings I have felt confident that Dr Bini had things week in hand. He has assembled a very efficient team to assist his patients with any and all concerns they might have. Whenever I have been with him I feel as if he is focused on me and my concerns.
Very personable and attentive physician with a good hands and perfect skills.
Fantastic surgeon and team w smiles, attention to detail and thoroughness of care. Health loop responses from oncall staff was not responsive enough esp Friday - Sun but also daily. The discharge was a nightmare. Thrust into the height of rush hour and forced to wait for drugs to be transferred after hours was not good planning. If a pt lives on the commute routes to get home plan discharges for am w meds in hand to leave. I spent 6h in the car even w leg up it was awful!!! Left at 4:30 home at 11:30p! Not optimum for the best outcome!
I like that he spoke frankly and explained everything. He truly cares about outcome and are patient care. I wasn't forgotten when the operation ended.
I really liked the communication with the computer program. It helped me stay on track and answered questions I might have had. Dr.Bini's staff is very attentive and kind and has helped answer my concerns. Dr. Bini I believe is a fantastic surgeon with a new approach to knee replacement surgery. The nurses at the hospital were very impressed. I will receive the benefits after my swelling subsides.
I love Dr. Bini's bedside manner! He is so personable, and very kind. I can tell he has a good heart. He was so wonderfully caring about my intense pain, and made a special last minute appointment with me to check the causes of my pain, and to prescribe a different pain medicine that might work better for me. However, I would like to let him know that I was not impressed with his staff at the front desk. They were much more interested in chatting it up and joking with each other than making sure I was being cared for. I had to use a BROKEN wheel chair that was the only one available in the lobby to get up stairs in the elevator. They were aware of this, yet not one of them offered to help me and my husband through the doors to the office, when I had to carry the BROKEN PART of my wheel chair, AND my WALKER in my lap!!!! I think they should read this review. They should try what I had to do, in all my pain, themselves. Maybe then, they will adopt some humanity and sympathy for others!!!
Currently @2wks postop, this entire medical experience has met my BEST case scenario, keep in mind that I also imagined every type of scenario to a worst case of 6 months of possible discomfort and challenges up to the remote outcome of death. From the initial meeting with Dr Bini, his staff, the surgical team, diligent contact, followups, ease of connecting with staff, day of surgery and up to this point, as I am expressing myself, it is and was an event that I would, with great passion and pleasure, HIGHLY RECOMMEND to anyone experiencing the extreme physical pain of bone to bone, collapsing of the legs in motion, AND especially the negative and draining emotional, psychological and mental state of your daily being, to explore this procedure immediately! The cost of the information and exposure to a potentially pain free life is INVALUABLE!!! I have nothing to report of anything negative. Check out the potential; best case scenario is you get back your quality of life, worst case is what you are currently experiencing, with a potential of getting worse! I would absolutely be willing to share my experience personally if requested.
Exceptional diagnosis and surgery plan.
Unwilling to do an MRI prior to recommending hip replacement surgery. The options were hip replacement or do nothing, not a lot of problem solving or diagnostic work. Put on a waiting list for surgery with not even an estimate as to when the surgery will take place. After waiting months, I changed insurance and had my surgery elsewhere. In the end, I got a surgeon who actually cared about my outcome and used better materials in the replacement. Overall, pretty unresponsive, a take it or leave it attitude. I'm guessing that's probably because he knew that I'd get tired of being on a waiting list and go elsewhere. The entire experience at Kaiser Oakland Ortho was very discouraging. The PT was pretty much useless as well. It's kind of crazy that after months, you couldn't even get an estimate as to when you would have surgery. Scheduling nurse for surgeon avoided phone calls or emails, I'm guessing because she had no answers and dealt with a lot of angry people. Just a crazy way to treat patients in severe pain.
Dr. Bini has performed one hip revision (drastic), 1 routine knee replacement, 1 complicated knee revision, and 1 femoral bone graft on me. He knows me as an individual; I have never felt as tho I'm "just a number," even within the large and often faceless Kaiser establishment. He is through and takes as much time as needed. I'm a nurse, and I KNOW doctors. Stef Bini is definitely a cut above the rest.
We could have used a more "informational exchange" regarding the various approaches to hip and knee surgery. We were under-prepared to ask about the various procedural approaches involving hip and knee surgeries. It would have been beneficial to listen to Dr. Bini's preferences and to know which procedure(s) he intended to use.Talking to a friend that has had this surgery, she mentioned that there was significant time spent explaining the commitment needed from the patient before and after surgery to accomplish the best result. So far, we have not had this type of preparation.
