Dr. Lee uses formula weight charts and formula bottle amounts in her recommendations, even when babies are exclusively breastfed. She needlessly worries breastfeeding parents about weight, even when other pediatricians and lactation consultants agree the weight gain is appropriate. She quickly moves to suggesting formula or solids rather than supporting breastfeeding and trying to troubleshoot within supporting breastfeeding. A pediatrician obviously should have the growth of the child as the first priority, but this should coincide with supporting breastfeeding, especially when that is the parents' clearly stated preference, and all medical research and evidence supports breastfeeding as best.
