Dr. Susan Serra Dorsey, MD

Dr. Dorsey is a wonderful physician. She listens, cares and makes me feel understood. I moved a year ago and I drive several hours to my appointments with her. Her care is definitely worth it.

Dr. Dorsey is absolutely amazing! I felt like she really saw and heard me after being written off by several other doctors. She truly cares about my health and I trust her judgment completely. I have moved 10 hours away and I continue to see Dr. Dorsey. The drive is worth it for the quality care and piece of mind.

Really depends on the day and who’s working. The receptionists are usually extremely rude, there is only one that is actually nice. Also when a nurse a told me what they found in my bloodwork I asked them what does that mean. They couldn’t answer cause they didn’t know. I won’t say exactly what it was but it’s something as simple knowing like diabetes. I feel unwelcomed when they call me back. I just don’t think they care about the patient as much as they care about the money. Very sad, and it shows here.

I Have been sick for 10 days and called the office yesterday and got in this morning. I also like the idea that U can call on the same day and be seen, if not by Dr. Dorsey, but her PA. Her advice was good and I’m already feeling better. As far as her not making a lot of eye contact, no big deal. I have worked in the medical field for 30 yrs myself and Dr’s often are listening and thinking about the health issue at hand! I’m satisfied that if I don’t feel better she will think of something else to help me. I don’t go 2 the Drs office for social interaction.

Susan Dorsey is an exceptionally qualified and competent MD. She keeps up with the literature, and knows her stuff. Her staff is competent, but historically, the follow up and timeliness of Rx refill requests has been pretty awful. Lately, though, they seem to be more on the ball. But, again, Dr. Dorsey is excellent.

I am a registered nurse. I see Dr. Dorsey very infrequently as I am healthy. When I have needed to see her, I was amazed at how see never looked at me. She spent most of the appt. time at her computer. When she did ask me a question, and looked up, her hair is/ was in her face. One time, I needed some paper work filled out, some of which I could do. Her main concern had nothing to do with my health. Her main concern was how long it was going to take her. I have switched MD's.

Dr. Dorsey is a nice woman but she is too busy to spend much time with senior patients and exams are not thorough. Most of the time she sits on a stool and types on her computer. It is doubtful she could diagnose something unless you brought up specifics and asked her to check. Her PA is wonderful though and does what she says she will do. The front desk personnel and most of the office personnel are awful. They should be working at McDonald's. Paperwork is not sent to or given to the right person and instructions on how to handle the information or lab results are not followed. We realized another person had the same name as our father and their medication was recorded on his chart - no one noticed that two different tranquilizers were supposedly prescribed at almost the same time! Obviously birth dates were not cross checked before charting. We sometimes got calls reminding us of his appointment, when it was another person's appointment and not even the right doctor. … When I convinced her it was not his appointment, the answer was "ok, I'll cancel it". Doubtless, some poor guy went to his appointment and found he no longer had one (instead of her looking up the right person and notifying them - she cancelled it?!) Either the on-line system is not user friendly and administrative staff can't proof info, or hasn't been trained or just doesn't bother to double check for accuracy. There are many doctors there and it may be a good medical practice, but the fact that the admin staff made so many mistakes was enough that we couldn't trust them.

She was fine when I had minor issues or needed routine exams, but she does not spend any time with her patients. She sits on her laptop and types everything in that you're saying. She also prescribed a medication that I am allergic to (after I told her about the allergy) and she failed to tell me about a serious problem with my blood test. Had I not gone to another doctor, I probably would have gotten seriously ill or worse.

-Wait time is not long, she shows up on time. Otherwise not helpful, and not interested in her patients. I have been a patient for about 4 years, she spends little or no time with you. Originally it was not big deal as I only saw her for sore throats act. Then, I was misdiagnosed twice with minor issues, and had an allergic reaction to one medication. I called to let her know that I could not stop vomiting and had a rash and she would not call me back, finally a nurse called and said that the Doctor cannot help me as this is the only medicine that would work. sorry. More recently i've had and unrelated surgery which has caused complications, she is not interested when I see her at all, in fact at a recent physical she spent less than 5 minutes with me. Drew no blood or urine samples, nothing yet I paid for a complete physical. I was in the office including undressing for less than 15 minutes. Lucky for me I saw my gynecologist a few weeks later who sent me for follow up with… other doctors. Thankfully I am being treated for a serious issue that would have been missed entirely if I had not taken things into my own hands. When other doctors send her test results she never calls to follow up, She does not read them or does not care? Bottom line, she is not caring and/or in my option, qualified. Look out for your self and get a second opinion and find another doctor, it could save your life.
