Great Dr! Explains everything, wonderful experience!! ð
Dr. Tamim Quam is a very nice and exceptional doctor. He took care of me and he hypothetically speaking saved my life. If not for him, I would be sitting on my desk, blind, trying to learn to read Braille. Dr. Qaum is very satisfactory and careful. When he was doing his surgery on me while I was in the OR, he used EXCEPTIONAL manners and was exceptionally nice, calming me down with a soothing voice. I would like to say thank you to him. Praise for Dr. Tamim Qaum!
What a wonderful professional physician. He is always striving to be the best he can be and I applaud his skills as a master surgeon. I am sad he has left the city but, he is a talent that others in a bigger community will always seek to take away from a community who has simply just appreciated him. He is a gift to medicine.
My experience with Dr. Qaum can be summed up in very few words. He is the most thorough doctor I have had. He works harder at providing information and asking if there is any other information that he can provide than any other doctor that I have had. Thank you Dr. Qaum!
If ALL doctors were as professional, diligent, and thorough as Dr Qaum everyone would benefit. Health care costs would drop and we would have a healthier population worldwide. When I learned he was moving out of Wichita, Ks I was heartsick and as I was leaving my last appointment with him, all of "us patients" were commiserating, in the lobby, as we were coming and going, about what a fine doctor he is and how sad we felt because he was leaving. I for one was not surprised when I heard he was moving on because I knew, based on the level of care after that very first visit, he wouldn't be here forever. Because I have multiple health concerns with my eyes, I saw Dr Qaum over a period of approximately six years several times a year and his level of care never wavered. Not once. I wish you and your family the best Dr Qaum and thank you for everything you did for me.
If you are looking for an excellent physician, Dr. Qaum will certainly fit that criteria. He is without question the most thorough physician I have ever seen, making sure that every option of your care is discussed and provided to you. One of the remarkable things about being his patient is his respect for your time. Somehow he always manages to competently evaluate your medical situation, give an adequate explanation and recommendations, and answer all of your questions in a timely manner. Therefore, you do not need to worry about waiting for hours to be seen or evaluated as that just did not happen at his office. You will also find Dr. Qaum to be a friendly, courteous and very caring physician I highly recommend him.
I have been a patient of Dr. Qaum's for 3 years his very knowledgeable, explains procedures and provides his home phone number in case of an emergency. He allows time to ask questions and provides understandable answers. The staff has been great also. Really hate to see him leave Wichita.
We have been a patient of Dr. Quam for 7 years and found him to be caring, thorough, knowledgeable, professional and very courteous. We never felt rushed through our appointments and he always answered all our questions. After surgery on each one of us we received excellent care together with his home phone in case of emergency. Sorry he is leaving Wichita. What a loss!
Dr. Quam in addition to being a world class physician, has an extremely well trained staff who work well with him and seem to respect him a great deal. He treated my Mother for a cataract with an excellent surgical outcome. He was caring, and as others have stated, he provided his home phone, and called after surgery to make sure that her recovery was going well. Our family is most thankful that he was able to treat my Father when he came in as an emergency patient with severe shingles of the eye. Without his intervention my Father could have lost his vision. All in all, he is a wonderful doctor with excellent credentials and it is sad that Via Christie has lost his services. We highly recommend him and should he return to Wichita, would gladly return to being his patients.
His professionalism, knowledge, and caring for the patient and their best interest is above any question or reproach. He is a friendly, caring doctor with an intense interest in detail and the patient's well being. He will be missed.
I have been Dr. Qaum's patient since 2009. The first time I saw him, as a retired RN, I knew he was special and extremely kind, professional, and very intelligent. I had a horrible experience with another ophthamalogist who told me I would lose my vision and nothing could be done. I have total confidence in Dr. Qaum's ability to treat my glaucoma. He is very kind and reassuring and removed my anxiety regarding my potential loss of vision. I have never had another physician give me his home phone number. . Via Christi's loss is West Virginia's gain. It makes me sad that he is leaving and I wish him and his family the very best.
I am pleased to write this letter on behalf of Dr. Qaum. Iâve been his patient for six year for treatment of ocular hypertension. When I first saw Dr. Qaum I was afraid that I would lose my eyesight. Dr. Qaum eased my fears and put my worries to rest. As a result of his expertise and treatment, six years later I have not lost any of my visual field, my optic nerve is healthy and my eye pressure is within normal range. Not only is Dr. Qaum highly skilled and extremely thorough, he is also very compassionate. He always makes time to answer my questions and makes sure that I understand what transpired during my examination. In short, he makes me feel like I am his only patient. He is the only doctor Iâve ever had that gives his home phone number to patients. To this day, Iâm still in awe of that gesture. Dr. Qaum is an outstanding ophthalmologist and I would recommend him, without hesitation. I am very sad he is leaving Wichita, but his new patients will be very lucky to have him.
Our Dr. for two years. Was recommended by our primary docs as the best in the Wichita area. And we heartily agree. Dr. Qaum is not only very professional and knowledgeable with degrees from several ivy league schools,he does not talk down to us. He clearly states the problem and the solution. What other doctor do you know who gives out his home number!
I have been a patient of Dr. Qaum's for 7 years. After being in horrible pain for over a month and almost dying from having 27 blood clots in my brain, Dr. Qaum was the one who figured out what was going on by ordering the appropriate tests. A dozen doctors saw me before him, and no one was able to figure anything out. He truly saved my life! Dr. Qaum is a very caring, VERY thorough doctor who takes the time to explain everything and stops regularly to see if you have any questions about what he saying. On top of that, he gives out his home phone number to all of his patients so they can call him at home if they have any questions or concerns. I wish that all doctors cared for their patients at the level that Dr. Qaum cares for his. He is truly an incredible doctor and he will be greatly missed in the Wichita area!
Dr. Qaum is very professional. He goes over your eye visit step by step, and welcomes questions. He gave me his home cell phone number in case I had any problem or question that couldn't wait. Although I am very disappointed to have glaucoma, Dr. Qaum took good care of my eyes.
How lucky for you that Dr. Qaum is moving to the Washington D. C. area, and how sad for those of us in Wichita, Ks. He is an excellent physician. I have had 2 cataract surgeries and a torn vitreous since going to him, plus a few less dramatic problems. He is so precise, open and caring. I always know just what is happening and he is so good at answering my questions when I do need further information. He is the epitome of customer service and his education and knowledge are first rate. I can not think of one bad thing to say about the man. I am very thankful to have been his patient for as long as I have.
Dr. Quam is an extremely conscientious, thorough and careful doctor. He is very knowledgeable and he consistently takes time to explain . He has been my ophthalmologist for 7 years and I'm am sorry that he has decided to re-locate his practice.
Dr. Qaum , in my opinion shows what a caring doctor should be. Dr. Qaum is what every opthamologist should be. He is caring, knowledgeable, patient and is always available . I feel lucky to have been a patient of his.Dr. Qaum listens and explains things to you so you are not afraid.
I was sent to Dr. Qaum in 2011 with what turned out to be uveitis, and what could have been a potentially dangerous situation. There were several additional episodes of symptoms that followed the uveitis, with several surgeries that could be possible down the line. Dr. Qaum is extremely bright, extremely careful with the care of his patients, and just always felt like I was very safe in his hands. I would recommend him to care for anyone, knowing he will give the best care possible. He is the only physician since I was a young child that gave me his home phone and asked me to use it if necessary.
Dr. Qaum did cataract surgery on my husband and we found him to be exceptionally gifted and sincerely interested in my husband's surgery. My husband is in his 70s so as you can imagine we have had interaction with many doctors over the years. I would rate Dr. Qaum as the number one doctor that we have total confidence in. My husband was so concerned when he heard Dr. Qaum was leaving that we scheduled the 2nd cataract surgery. Dr. Qaum gave us his home and cell phone number and he called the evening of each surgery to see how my husband was doing. We have had the outpatient nurse call before but Dr. Qaum himself called to check. I am greatly disappointed that he won't be practicing in Wichita in a couple of years when I need cataract surgery. His leaving is a great loss to his patients. Finding someone with his experience, knowledge and compassion is rare and wherever he is moving will be blessed to have them.
It is a pleasure to have Dr. Quam for my eye problems. He has operated on both of my eyes for cataracts. He followed up when needed, and examined my eyes throughly on a regular basis ever since. Dr. Quam is very knowledgeable and very through in his examinations. He has a pleasant bedside manner and always makes sure to answer any questions. He has always been available 24/7 if needed, and lets you know that.
Dr. Qaum was the best. My only regret about my experience with him is that he's leaving to be in a more personable, less corporate environment. But he has been the most organized, thorough and clear doctor (not just eye doctor) I have ever dealt with. And on my first visit, he handed me a card with his phone number (not his office phone number, his phone number) in case I had a problem during off hours. He also copied me on his reports to my primary care physician, so I got written summaries in the mail of all my eye issues usually within a week of my appointment. And on a couple of occasions, he called between appointments to see how I was doing. During visits, after doing whatever tests were appropriate, he would tick off the list of eye conditions he observed, comment on the severity (and amount of change, for a previously observed condition) of each, and then he always made sure to ask (usually more than once) if I had any questions. My wife accompanied me to most of my visits with him, and she was also very favorably impressed, and we have very different backgrounds - I'm a retired math professor, so very scientifically oriented, while she recently retired from teaching fourth grade - very much a generalist and a people oriented person. No personality meshes with everyone in my experience, so I suppose some people might be thrown by how organized his discussion with you is, but if you have serious enough issues with your eyes to require an ophthalmologist who knows his stuff, and you appreciate a doctor who will try to make sure you understand what you need to know and do to try to preserve your eyesight, in my experience it would be very hard to find someone better than Dr. Qaum.
Highly recommended. Provides great information and patient instruction. Pleasant manor.
I can find nothing negative to say about Dr. Quam. He is professional, very knowledgeable, and gives immediate reports (same day as visit) to me as a patient and to my general practitioner. He immediately takes time to explain his diagnosis. My wife sat in with me during several sessions, and was so impressed with him that she wanted him to be her eye care specialist. He has performed laser surgery for glaucoma and cataract surgery on both of my eyes with no complications. I never had any pain or problems. He is always available if problems should arise. My vision is brilliant now. At the followup appointment the day after each cataract surgery, my vision was 20/30 and a week later my vision was 20/20.
I have been a patient of Dr. Qaum for 3 years. My initial visit was for a rapid onset of floaters and light flashes. His examination was thorough and he explained in detail his observations very clearly ,and this report was forwarded to my primary physician within days. During follow up examinations he carefully noted any changes and made certain that all of my questions and concerns were addressed. In the event of an emergency, Dr. Qaum directed me to call him immediately 24/7. Without hesitation, I would recommend his services and expertise to others seeking excellent opthamology care.
Years ago I moved to Wichita and was looking for the best doctor in the field of opthmalogy because I am blind in one eye and had a cataract on the other. Dr. Qaum's prestigeous education was supplemented with advanced study and honors and awards from physicians and organizations in his specialty and from his patients. Dr. Qaum's exceptional intelligence and knowledge of eye treatment and surgery was obvious the first time I saw him. My cataract surgery and lens implant was successful and I continue to see him because of my special needs. I especially like the way he ends each appointment. He reviews what has been done, asks if I have any questions and also asks if there is anything more they could have done to make my appointment more comfortable. He even gives me his home telephone number so that I can reach him at any time. Dr. Qaum is outstanding in his field and I have recommended him to my friends.
Dr. always made me feel more like a partner in my healthcare than just a patient. I saw him over about 4 years.
Dr. Tamim Qaum is an excellent eye doctor who is very conscience of the needs of his patients. He will go above and beyond to make sure that you are taken care of adequately. Dr. Qaum will leave no stone unturned to insure positive results for his patients. I am pleased and proud to have been one of his patients. He is the best and you can find very few better. Dr. Qaum is thorough to make sure that the best care is given to his patients. If he accepts you as a patients you are the lucky one.
Dr. Qaum is exceptional, and as a retired R.N. I so appreciate his thoroughness in caring for my vision. He is one of a kind and will be sorely missed by all his patients. Dr. Qaum's background and credentials are unsurpassed, and he is a "people person". I wish him the very best in his new practice. How lucky his new patients will be!
This is an amazing doctor, one who cared about my person and my eye problems. His staff was always helpful and caring. I wish him the best as he leaves Wichita for new service to many in the Eastern part of my America. Thanks so much Dr. Qaum
I have been a patient of Dr. Qaum's for 4 years. He is a concerned ,through and confident physician . Due to his care my glaucoma is under control. I am sorry to see him leave Wichita but people in Martinsburg,WV will be lucky to have him.
Dr. Qaum is cares about his patients and I believed that he has helped save my eyesight. I am sad that he is leaving his Wichita practice. His patients in his new locale will have a qualified physician.
Dr. Qaum was our family eye specialist and we are very sadden to hear that he will be leaving the Wichita Clinic in Wichita, Kansas. Dr. Qaum was recommend to us by our primary Doctor and we received excellent care from him. From our first visit until our last, he demonstrated to us that he was extremely knowledgeable of our conditions and took extremely good care of my husband and me. My husband is a diabetic and Dr. Qaum was the first Eye Specialist that we felt we received the best and most effective care. My husband is a Minister and we both prayed fervently for a good and excellent eye doctor. We are extremely sadden by his departure but not surprised because he is certainly a good doctor and specializing in a field that is very much needed. My husband and I speak with complete certainty that any hospital with whom he is employed will immediately become better by his presence. He really cares for his patients! It is our prayed that God will send us another Opthalmologist as wonderful as he!
Would not advise going to him what so ever. Cant say if he is a good doctor or not but i will say he will do everything possible to make your bill as high as he can and do procedures without your consent for no reason at all. Just make sure you only get what you came in there for in the first place.
Dr. Qaum and his staff are very considerate, caring and informative. They truly demonstrate professionalism in all they do as they care for their patients. I have been a patient for many years and have never had bad service or care. I would recommend Dr. Qaum to others in a heart beat!
While I absolutely believe Dr Quam is an excellent doctor, I absolutely dread my 6-month appointments. For the 10-20 minutes I am actually with the doctor or taking tests, I spend no less than two hours per visit. At least once I was there for 3.5 hours - with only 10- 25 minutes spent with the doctor or taking tests. It is crazy to have to spend that much time waiting.
Dr. Qaum made me feel so special when he gave me his home phone number. I soon realized all his patients are "special," as they have his number, too!My reoccurring iritis can strike at a moment's notice, and Dr. Qaum always makes an appointment available immediately. For more than 5 years, he has provided intelligent, thoughtful diagnostic service, treatment and aftercare.Dr. Qaum is an amazing physician, and we are blessed to have him in the Wichita area. His gifts go far beyond academic achievement and innovative research as a leader in his industry. His gift of compassion is a blessing in many lives, including veterans and those suffering from traumatic injuries. When my spouse died, I experienced another aspect of his compassion, as he expressed genuine interest in how I was dealing with such a drastic life change. Most importantly, from reading his notes aloud to providing literature and opportunity for patient feedback, to keeping the patient informed at all times -- Dr. Qaum brings "thoroughness" and "excellence" to a whole new level. I would recommend Dr. Qaum to anyone whose expectation is intelligent, compassionate care.
Dr. Qaum was the one that diagnosed my torn retina and help me find a surgeon right away. I was released to Dr. Qaums care after the surgery in 2007. Dr. Qaum was concerned about the pressure of my eyes and had me in regularly for checkups. He finally diagnosed me with glaucoma in my right eye and prescript drops, he did not rush to make this diagnosis. He explained the disease and made sure I understood what the he was explaining; he would stop and ask if I had questions. He affirmed that he would do his best and not let me go blind. He made sure that I am tested regularly and at each appointment very diligently goes over all the tests and their results. He watched the cataract develop after my retina repair in the left eye and was the one that removed it without any problems. When I got sick that evening, I had his home phone number to call. He asked at the end of each appointment if I have questions and have his home number. He said he would rather take care of a problem early then wait and have complications that can be avoided. When the pressure started going up in my left eye, drops were started and the pressure is good in both eyes now. I have a lot of confidence in Dr. Qaum and have recommended him to people I work with and friends. If I ever had to wait in his office, I know its because hes giving the same care to someone else. He makes sure that my Medical Doctor and Optometrist receive detailed letters after each appointment and I appreciate that.Im glad he has those fancy diplomas on the walls, it shows that he has worked hard to get where hes at and has pride in his accomplishment. My eyesight is very important to me and I trust Dr. Quam with it!!
As a professional photographer and graphic designer I had considerable concern over several problems with my eyes: glaucoma, cataracts and early stage macular degeneration. The trusted and valued ophthalmologist I was seeing at the Wichita Clinic referred me to Dr. Qaum, also at the Clinic, due to my multiple eye related conditions. As a person of retirement age, I have seen many doctors over the years regarding various medical concerns in the continuing pursuit of good health maintenance. So, I have considerable experience with various medical specialists. Dr. Qaum won me over from the very first visit. He listens! His check-ups are extremely thorough. And, following his recommendations, he always asks "Do you have any additional questions?" He has given me his business card with his home phone number written on it and stated "If you ever have an eyeconcern or question, do not hesitate to call me, day or night." I have never had that degree of availability offered by any other personal physician. My first visitation with Dr.Qaum was over five years ago, and with regular check-ups, eye pressure and peripheral tests, laserprocedures, and specific eye drop medications my conditions have stabilizedresulting in overall improved vision.Thank you Dr. Qaum, for your skill, your patient interaction, and commitment to your profession.
My spouse and I have been patients of Dr. Qaum since 2008. We both have serious eye problems and have come to learn that Dr. Qaum is among the most caring and professional individual we've encountered. I have been seen by eye professionals for 60 years from New England, Mid Atlantic States to the far South East. Wichita is truly blessed to have this professional among their ranks. How many Doctors personally write their home phone number on their business card and tell you to call with any concern. We both see Dr. Qaum on an average of 3 times a year for each of us. We travel 120 miles round trip to ensure we obtain the finest eye care available. Not only does Dr. Qaum have his own patients, he sees veterans at the V.A. Hospital and is active with those less fortunate in the Wichita community. We have always been able to get an appointment on short notice if really needed. There has never been a time we have felt rushed or neglected. He always goes back over everything he has told us and then follows up in a few days with a letter to our home. Sure over a 4 year period we've waited a little while BUT we figure he has either had an emergency or another patient has a much more serious problem. However there have been times we've been called in earlier than our appointment. I've personally recommended Dr. Qaum to others with diseases of the eye. We hope Dr. Qaum does not leave Wichita during our lifetime. We would gladly travel greater than the 120 miles round trip to be helped and care for by an honest and compassionate medical professional of this caliper. God Bless him.
