 |  Very experienced Surgeon and a compassionate person.  |  show details
by Katherine K. Tribble on Mar 22nd, 2013

In the past 5 years I've had two separate neck surgeries because of my Degenerative Disc Disease. The first replacing disc C4-5, C5-6 with cadaver bone. Then two years later needing C6-7 replaced with an artificial disc. Both which Dr. Pencek had performed. I'm doing very well with the discs he had done. Dr. Pencek is a very caring person and very professional Surgeon. In the future I will probable need more replacements in my spine and I would not hesitate at all to see him again. I "Highly" recommend Dr. Terrence Pencek for any neurological problem.

 |  Very good surgeon.  |  show details
by Jim Clink, New Berlin, Illinois on Jul 18th, 2009

After my neurosurgeons in ST.Louis had retired, Dr. Pencek readily took on my case of severe degenerative cervical spondylosis and performed an exhausting 4 level cervical fusion surgery in July 2007. I am disappointed that he moved to Decatur and now will go to another MD in Springfield Illinois.

Pencek told me that surgery must be done or I might have paralysis. Another doctor disagreed and told me that the only reason to have surgery was if I hurt bad enough to have it. I did not have surgery and I am not paralysed

JoeCool32: I feel Dr. Pencek does emphasis your weight. But he is only being truthful. Every Doctor you go to will tell you if you are overweight it contributes to your back pain. I too am over weight and he has told me it will help my recovery but do not

Insentive and unhelpful: Dr. Pencek, a formerly 100lbs overweight Doc by his own admission, will spend much time telling you that you should loose weight and no time addressing your true neurological issues. You time and trip will be a large waste of time
