In October 2016, Dr. Thomas Greene, performed left rotator cuff repair. Upon awakening, I met with Dr. Green who stated that the “shoulder was a mess” and that it went back together “kinda well”. Further, Dr. Green stated that the surgery took much longer than anticipated and the surgical staff was upset and rushed. At this time, the discharge nurse took the surgically repaired shoulder, in a rough manner, and shoved the arm into my shirt. Finally, she asked that I leave immediately. The discharge nurse appeared to be in a hurry to start her weekend. Three weeks later an infection developed. It required two washout surgeries, which would not have been necessary had antibiotics been prescribed during my recovery. It has been apparent that a shoulder is simply not a priority. I was a number. Dr. Greene is a butcher and the Rothman Institute and New Britain Surgery Center are chop shops. Prior to the surgery conducted on October 14, 2016, I had full range of motion of the damaged shoulder. I had 80% strength. Post-surgery and post-infection, I have 25% range of motion and 10% strength. Range of motion and strength will never improve unless further significant surgery is conducted. Regardless, I will never return to anywhere near the status that I had enjoyed prior to the surgery as was promised by Dr. Green and The Rothman Institute. It is time for Dr. Green to retire. Stay away from all of them.

My family and I have used Dr. Thomas Greene's services for over 15 years for various medical conditions and multiple surgeries. He is an excellent orthopedic doctor and surgeon. He thoroughly explains your injuries, the anatomy of the injuries/conditions he is seeing you for, as well as what you can expect in terms of recovery. His bedside manner is reassuring and gentle, and will address any concerns you have or don't understand with patience. I would recommend him to family and friends.
