Dr. Timothy J Lichter, MD

I had a back injury in high school. It was still causing severe pain at age 19, so I brought it to the attention of Dr. Lichter. He ordered x-rays and then told me that because the images didn't show damage, I suffered from "Somatoform Disorder". He then explained that repressed childhood memories were manifesting as physical pain. He sat there and watched me cry in the exam room for 20 minutes because he refused to take my pain seriously. A few years of suffering physically and emotionally later, I was diagnosed with degenerative disc disease, facet arthritis of the lumbar sacral spine, and thoracic spondylosis. With the help, treatment, and encouragement of a physician with far superior bedside care, I now work as a nurse taking as few medications (no narcotics or GI irritating medications), and have recovered enough to be able to join in zumba and yoga classes. I didn't immediately learn from this "doctor" choosing to intentionally ignore my pleas for help for myself, and I… allowed two of my children to be "treated by this man. He saw my daughter from birth. She began with what he called a cold, keeping this intuitive mother awake night after night. She was two weeks old. Over the course of three weeks, I had her in his office for follow up visits from three different urgent care centers and two separate emergency rooms as she progressed from a cough that was "just different" than any other cold in an infant I had ever heard through coughing until she was bright red, coughing until she would occasionally vomit (not spit up, forcefully empty the contents of her stomach), through vomiting with every single coughing fit, and past coughing until she was purple. All the while, it was necessary to use the bulb syringe (snot sucker) to get thick white mucus out of her throat almost constantly. I made the attempt to have her seen yet again and reminded the nurse that the thick white mucus was severely abnormal, so she relayed the message to him. While I awaited two hours for his reply, she began coughing again, turned blue, and stopped breathing. Instincts took over, and I breathed for her until she resumed breathing on her own. Almost on cue, the nurse called back and told me that his response was that my constant suctioning was irritating her throat...and to stop. By that time, I was livid and told her, "Apparently you don't understand. If I don't suction, she does not breathe." She said that she would get back to me as soon as he responded. 15 years later, he has not responded. We immediately rushed our 5 week old daughter who had just needed to have her breathing restarted to Dayton Children's hospital, where she skipped the two hour triage line, spent SIX DAYS in a medically induced coma on life support, two days after remaining in the PICU, and another in a step down unit....WITH PERTUSSIS! She was still not old enough to be vaccinated when she was released. Because of his decision to intentionally ignore my pleas to help her, my daughter missed her first Christmas and ALMOST DIED! IF I HAD LISTENED TO HIM, SHE WOULD HAVE!!! I had to be in contact with the CDC, and health departments in six counties in three different states while I watched my 7lb comatose newborn with tubes and wires coming from all over. She was extremely lucky to have not suffered secondary problems during treatment and recovery. At age 15, she still has to be watched for seizure activity. Are you willing to chance being put through any of that?

My family has seen Dr. Lichter for several years, and we absolutely love him. He works with his patients and does not try to throw you on medications if they may not be needed. I appreciate his understanding of my concerns when I come in, and I feel that he truly listens and does everything he can to help.

I was a patient of Dr. Timothy Lichter. I found him personable, competent, and I thought I had found my provider. HOWEVER the office staff changed this perspective. I am a nurse. I know that I am able to decline any care that I want to decline. I was in the office one day with a virus, I had been sick for over 4 weeks. I really just wanted Dr. Lichter to listen to my lungs to make sure that I did not have pneumonia. I had been having difficulty breathing. I am also a middle aged woman and at the time going through the very difficult process of menopause. Though I have all of my life been underweight or normal weight, I was at the time-overweight. Having suffered from an eating disorder on and off most of my young life, I strongly stated to the staff that I did not want to be weighed. I knew it would be very damaging to me to see the numbers on the scale. The office staff bullied me onto the scale and said she was just going to take my height. Subsequently she hands me a… paper with the weight written at the top. I WAS NOT HAPPY AND KNEW AT THAT MOMENT I WOULD NOT BE BACK. I suffered a lot of depression following this visit and was FURIOUS that my rights were ignored. This staff member ignored my decision to decline the weight. As a nurse, I know that this is not acceptable. As an individual who suffered from an eating disorder, this is unacceptable care received on this day! I WILL NEVER GO BACK.

For many yrs Lichter and staff have been there 4 me. He "partners" with patients and many times has spent extra time for me showing utmost compassion. Staff is outstanding! In my 78 yrs I have seen MANY doctors. Dr Lichter is among the very best. Caring promotes healing!

Won't help you stay healthy with an extra refill if you can't get to the office when you're out of the area and can't find a new doctor. Only cares once you get sick.

dr t lichter gave me a diagnosis, and some medicine for it. he then refered me to a specialist who was not in the country. i never did see this dr. instead i got sick, and ran out of medication. i tried to call his office but he wouldnt take my calls.
