Dr. Urmila Jayantilal Patel, MD

My first visit she was rude, asked me questions and talked over me when I tried to answer. Made me feel bad for being overweight.Made several comments under her breath to assistant about not being able to perform a proper exam because of my weight( I am not extremely overweight) sent me for a biopsy but doesn't seem to have any sense of urgency since mentioning the possibility of a cancer. When I came from biopsy she came to the table and said "This is not going to be fun"..Who does that!! That started me to feel instantly panicked! Immediately I was in a state of anxiety about the procedure. I was screaming and crying about how bad it was hurting. I tried to endure it but I couldn't. She made me feel ashamed that I couldn't finish. I am looking for another doctor. I have never been treated like this by a doctor..NEVER

SUPER unprofessional and not following code. I had to schedule an emergency appointment a little over 2 weeks ago now. You can not get ahold of the office, they NEVER answer the phones or reply in the portal. Right, when I walked in the staff was agressive and rude. The APRN I saw did not know what I was explaining to her and performed tests I said I did not want rather than doing the tests I requested. I still have no results. In the meantime i have gone to another doctor, had tests, results and started on a medication. The APRN is clueless and the staff does not know what they are doing. I am a medical professional myself and was concerned about the quality of care. They also had the sharps container wide open, a stained sanitation sheet on the bed, and when her assistant came in she never introduced herself.

If you want a dedicated, astute and non-nonsense physician that is pro-women health; than Dr Patel is your physician. However, if you want unrealistic and pie in the sky fantasies that some physicians unfortunately share with desperate patients....don't waste your time scheduling with this busy physician as she will be VERY authentically honest with you where others haven't and will not for fear of losing access to your 4 or your insurance $ plus referrals. I have been with her for four live births and two miscarriage's even when we relocated to other cities.... that's how much I trust her with my surgeries - healthcare. She adores the female body and will let you know when others haven't medically done so and viable solutions even if it's not her surgical or professional area. Ladies, we have to be willing to hear the unvarnished truth as to better navigate our healthcare opportunities otherwise we'll continue to sleep in the ignorance of fantasies and/or shame when we could have… more positive outcomes.

I went to go see Dr. Urmila J Patel. It was my worst gynecologist visit ever. As soon as I walked out their front door I started crying. I’ve been in pain for months trying to figure out what is going on with me/if I can get some help. I walked in hopeful and left defeated. My doctor did not listen to all the things I needed to say, she interrupted me, and acted like I wasn’t really in pain. On top of that, when she was doing her full exam, she pointed out the lose skin on my stomach, grabbed it, and said “what is this, you’re too young to have skin like this” which made me feel even WORSE. I lost over 100lbs and no one has ever made me feel bad about it until today and now I’m completely insecure. The doctor was unprofessional, rude, and doesn’t care about patient care.

I just had a visit with Dr. Patel a few months ago and I hated it. She is rude and she cut the visit short after I asked a few questions. I look back at her reviews. She has being getting bad reviews since 2015. Come on it is time for a change. BTW the assistant nurse Jacquie is wonderful I had a great experience with her

When I arrived at Southwest I had already been in shock, lost a lot of blood and was unresponsive. Dr. Patel helped me pull through. She was also able to salvage a tube so I still had a chance to conceive.

Dr. Urmila Patel is one racist person, rude. She was bothered that I was asking her questions about delivering in here, I’m from Cuba and I’m also a first time mom, so obviously I have a lot of questions, she ended up telling me after 3 questions if we don’t have babies in Cuba, I was shocked... Doctors like her give medicine in this country a bad name. She should not be able to practice anymore. I took the time to read the reviews from the clinic she works at in Brandon, and apparently she is like that to everyone. What a shame!!!!

She delivered my granddaughter 6yrs ago and did my full hysterectomy 4 yrs later. She's Great With What She Does. Sincerely Catina Smith Farley. Wish she was my primary care Dr...

She lied to me about my results from an MRI and didn't even remember why she ordered it in the first place. I was always seen at least one hour past my appointment time.
