He was the doctor for my Mother, who had pancreatic cancer that had spread to other organs by the time of diagnosis. He helped her fight the cancer, even though the odds were not good. He included her in the decisions of how long to use chemo, what types to use. He never gave up, and was willing to try strategies as long as she was. As a result, Mom lived 18 months after a diagnosis where less then 4% live one year. At one point, when her passing seemed imminent, he helped her live another seven months with a reasonable quality of life. She got to see another birthday and the Springtime flowers and birds, which was a goal of hers. There were things that didn't make him a perfect doctor, but his knowledge of the disease, how to treat it, and his willingness to fight it, no matter the odds, made him a great doctor for her.

Made an 80+ year old cancer patient wait outside for 15 minutes while she can see that there are people inside the office, with some "special" patients already coming out through the glass door. Waited in the waiting room for 30 minutes, another 1.5 hrs. in the examination room. Dr. Lanzotti came in, talked to us for about 2 minutes, he remembered that the patient had x-rays done, went out "to look at the results" we waited for 45 minutes, meanwhile we can hear him looking at another patient next door. Made the patient go back and forth to the office without new instructions, findings, on a weekly basis. Never prepared when doing scheduled consultations, didn't even review the case just before entering the exam room. Said "you have lot's more coverage, we can use that" maybe that's why the patient had to have x-rays and consultation every two weeks.
