Dr. Victoria Kalivoda-Popela, DO

Dr. Popela is a wonderful, intelligent, compassionate, thoughtful doctor. She cares about her patient's comforts and concerns. She asks if they need anything. She listens to her patient's family. A very intelligent doctor and we are very fortunate to have her her in Carthage, Illinois.

I went to the emergency room with the fear of having blood poisoning from a thorn in my foot. Dr. Popela was incredible with me. I apologize for making a scene over it and she said had I waited I would’ve been hospitalized so I think she was outstanding

I went into the ER with stroke-level blood pressure and she was the doctor. Her first comment was “what did you eat today?” Trying to blame my diet (I’m on a medication that causes me to have no appetite). She then got really rude with me when she asked if I’d tried a medication, and decided to give me one for blood pressure and refused to answer my questions about it. I told the nurse there that it made me feel loopy, she still chose to discharge me. Less than an hour later, I broke out in hives from the medication! My BP wasn’t where it should have been when I was released, and she didn’t listen to my concerns. Thank goodness I didn’t actually have a stroke, this doctor would have let me die.

She was cruel to me in the ER. I went in for a kidney stone and my guess because I have a history of kidney stones she thought I was just looking for medication.... honestly I was. Because kidney stones hurt really bad. Also the at home meds I have for pain I was unable to keep down. She told me what I have at home is sufficient and I needed to just go home and deal with it. She shouldn’t be treating people. If she’s your doctor I advise you run! She’s completely heartless and cruel!!!!

Awful doctor. Terrible attitude. She abused and misdiagnosed my toddler. She scared my 3 year old half to death. She has no clue wgat she's doing. I had to take my son to another doctor to be properly cared for. Shocked at her hatefulness and unprofessionalism
