Dr. William Matthew Dean

Dr Dean has had multiple professional misconduct complaints with the Washington State Dept of Health. This is public info that can be verified. He performed a procedure on me that caused bleeding and extreme pain for three weeks. He performed surgery on the wrong kidney on another patient. His diagnosis on me was flat out wrong and can be verified by two other doctors. He never sent a lab specimen out and prescribed an unnecessary and extremely strong antibiotic for a non-existent infection. My experience with him was a complete nightmare.

Overall, I give Dr. Dean an outstanding rating. He treats the patient not just the condition being seen for. I was amazed at the amount of time he has spent with me explaining treatment and other options. Other doctors I've seen for my condition just told me that I had no real hope for controlling or dealing with it. Dr. Dean has put me on the road to recovery.

Situated right across from the hospital, and with the usual office trappings, I kind of feared my visit to the urologist. I don't like the idea of cystoscopy, (even though it's the state-of-the-art for being able to see what's going on in the urethra and bladder), and feared the treatment options of drugs and surgery.The staff moved me through the procedure and Dr Dean was able to see my problem from the scope, but the shock came when he presented my treatment options.While drugs are possible if I can't get my situation under control, Dr Dean, who has a book coming out, offered me a dietary/herbal option, that so far is doing quite well.To come away from a urological exam with a clear understanding of the problem, but not to feel doomed to drugs and side effects, or the prospects of surgical intervention is a more enlightened practice of medicine, that is consistent with Hippocrates dictum, "First, do no harm". This is a good, caring, bright doctor who is ahead of the curve in his… field.
