Dr. William Taylor, MD

Dr. Taylor changed my life. Neck surgery was the best decision I ever made. I was also due to get wrist surgery around the same time and my wrist surgeon said "I know Bill Taylor - I went to Med School with him - do whatever he says" I appreciated his grounded, calm bedside manner and trusted him completely. Not to mention my scar is practically invisible. Will absolutely go back to him if I ever need spine surgery again. Hope not. But he's my #1.

In all my visits with physicians both video and in person, I have never been more disappointed. Other than feeling rushed to get the visit terminated. He wasn't accurately informed, although he had all the necessary documentation. His condescending uninformed conclusion, combined with negativity often not related to my symptoms, undermines his status as a doctor and professional

I had a disc in my spine that frequently herniated. The pain that I lived with was horrible ! At times I was unable to walk. I tried to avoid back surgery for years, but the pain was too intense to live with. After interviewing a few spine surgeons, I was referred to Dr. Taylor. Dr. Taylor looked at my MRI & he confidently said : "I can fix that. " Dr. Taylor replaced my old, dis-functional disc with a new disc. That was 7 years ago. The surgery was a complete success ! I no longer suffer from intense back pain, I can hike and walk for miles. Dr. Taylor gave me my life back, and I have great respect and so much gratitude for Dr. Taylor !

Dr. Taylor performed ACDF surgery, fusing C4-5 and 5-6. The results were 150% of my expectations. I have not had ANY pain since I came out of the recovery room. Dr. Taylor was professional in every respect. I am not a patient that needs a lot of hand-holding. I expect, one looking for that might find Dr. Taylor's demanding schedule a little frustrating. That's the price of going to one of the very best. I have probably referred 10 people to Dr. Taylor since my surgery 4 months ago

First, I am not a patient that needs or wants a lot of hand-holding, but I respect those who do and would suggest they may want to continue their search for the right fit. But, if you want extreme competence, maximum efficiency and a spectacular outcome, Dr. Taylor is the best choice. I am 6 weeks out from ACDF surgery at C4-5, 5-6 and have been completely and immediately pain free and am already back to normal activities. He recommended (and I had) steroid injection and physical therapy before resorting to surgery--so he does not rush to surgery as the only option. I appreciated that during my two days in the hospital, when the nurses learned that Dr. Taylor was my doctor, they were very respectful and deferential--always commenting that he was "the best." I have, and will continue to, recommend Dr. Taylor to my friends who are in need.

I can't say if Taylor is a good surgeon or not. But I can say that his communication skills are so poor that he should have another Doctor do his consultations. He lacks respect for a patient knowing their own body. He also appears to be jaded and seems to have very little interest in a patient as an individual human who is suffering. In addition, he gave me information about my cervical spine issues that are verifiably incorrect. Which makes him a very dangerous Doctor indeed.

I had spine surgery in early 2013, I've not looked "back" since. Soon after my surgery for an extruded disc w/ blocked nerve at L5-S1, I walked the Komen breast cancer walk. I do ashtanga yoga and am shocked that no complications have arisen. He came highly recommended. Not the type to waste your time, and won't let you waste his. If your case doesn't need surgery and you WANT it, go elsewhere, save him for those of us that need him.

I was referred to Dr. Taylor by another neurosurgeon from San Francisco. He told me initially that I needed my surgery but I asked for the injections beforehand to see how that would work. Of course, no relief!I scheduled the surgery and have been so very happy with it. No complications, no problems. He might not be the most personal guy and he does not fool around with minor problems. But he repaired my spinal stenosis and gave me a new life! My active life now (6 years after) is all because of his excellent surgery. Sometimes we forget that the best surgeons for difficult situations are not always 100% in the personal realm. But I wanted the surgery I needed done with perfection and I got it!

I specifically had picked Dr. Taylor after reading about his academic background. I was disappointed in how little time he spent with me (less than 5 minutes), in explaining a serious procedure I was to undergo. I had to ask him to slow down and speak in Layman's terms. Then, he told me he would not be doing the surgery because he was leaving for a few months. He referred me to another surgeon. At least he did agree with why I was having so much pain in my cervical spine based on my MRI.

This is a dishonest doctor in my opinion. I met with him for an honest 2nd opinion, which I didn't get. Worker's comp got to him before I did. I wasn't even in his office for 2-minutes and he said I didn't need neck surgery. He wouldn't let me talk. I barely explained that both of my arms and right leg have pain and tingling. He said it has nothing to do with my neck. I showed him my MRI's, which clearly show much spinal cord compression at C5-C6. He said it wasn't the problem. I asked what was causing the problem? He said he didn't know, but he knew it wasn't my neck. He was abrupt and impatient. He was in a hurry to finish the appointment. Taylor didn't take the time to explain anything to me. He made me feel like garbage. He didn't even try to set up more tests. It was so obvious that he couldn't have cared less. OWCP influenced his decision. It is sad that many doctors fall into the politics of the labor department instead of caring medically about the patient. Taylor is a bad… apple. He is biased toward worker's comp.
