Dr. Shiel is absolutely the best! I have been going to him for a number of years with Psoriatic Arthritis. He is caring, listens to you and has made a very big difference in my attitude in living with this disease.

Dr. Shiel has taken care of me for a long time. He's brilliant, on top of new treatments, and has an astounding knowledge of medical information outside his specialty. He listens. Phenomenal doctor. [I'd fired several rheumatologists before I went to him.]

I took me 3 months & well worth the wait to get to see this awesome Dr. He is more than thorough and looks @ labs & all results you bring in so as a 1st time patient, do this! If he questions something he sees he will have you retested so when he does give a dx, it is very accurate! I saw Dr. Shiel this past week and, after looking @ notes from all my other specialists, he told me something I did not wish to hear. Even so, his given plan of action for me was well thought through and definitely will be something I will follow. I am 61 have had many specialists in my life from top teaching universities like Duke & Mayo Clinic. I trust Dr. Shiel with my life!

I have gout. You talk about pain! Other physicians were unable to properly diagnose my problem, and Dr. Shiel picked it up right away. I've been a patient of Dr. Shiel's since 2008, and I haven't had a gout flairup since he first started treating me! I am a dentist, and have been heavily involved in research for 38 years. Dr. Shiel has published numerous research papers, which I've read. That means a LOT to me. He really knows his stuff and he's up on the most current research. I'm also thankful to him for how truly caring of a doctor he is. In fact, I trust his judgment so much that it is Dr. Shiel that I always ask for any referral to other types of physicians (for myself and family) because I am well aware that health care professionals who really care and take pride in their knowledge will refer to other doctors who have the same level of caring and competence. Thanks Dr. Shiel.

I was seeing another doctor, who failed to actually treat me for Lupus. I went to Dr. Shiel and he took the time to listen to me, and reassure me that my old Doctor wasn't doing his job, and it wasn't my fault. He was not overly bubble gum sweet and friendly, but he was knowlegable and honest, and that is what I prefer from my doctors. The only downside to my whole experiance is that a patient came too early for her appointment, which ended me wait for an hour until I got called back. After seeing how Dr. Shiel was with his patients, and the time he took, I totally understand why. I am looking forward to getting my health on track, and I know that he will help me get there

Dr. Shiel has worked with my mother for years and as her care giver I have been very impressed with his attentiveness and his knowledge. He is relentless in his efforts to improve her quality of life. We are thankful for his caring compassion!

Difficult to get re-fills on prescriptions. Follow-ups or return phone calls seldom occur. Staff does not alert patient if medicine has not arrived for appointment.

Dr. Shiel is a fantastic doctor!Not only is he always up to date on RA treatments, but he is such a caring, genuine person. He has helped me greatly with the challenges of having RA. I highly recommend him. He is the best!

Dr. Shiel has ben my rheumatologist since the Fall of 1992. I would rate him "fabulous" if there was one star above "excellent". He has been so caring, thorough, helpful beyond what I can relay in words, and very patient with this patient (me) as he spent a great deal of time listening. He correctly diagnosed me after years of other doctors' misdiagnoses. I have and will continue to recommended many others to him as I know he would provide the best health care.
