I had to take a family member to him for a procedure, and waited the entire day for them because of the lack of consideration by this doctor. I don't know why anyone would go to him. I was told by his staff that "this is the way he works". Horrible! If you go to this doctor for a procedure he will send you to his facility in Huntington; 45 minutes to an hour away from his office. Then he will tell you to be there an hour before the procedure and he will make you wait four hours before they take you in. Nightmare! No regard for people's time; stay way! He does not care how long his patients wait for him.

Negligent doctor - ignored CANCER !!! show details Negligent doctor - ignored CANCER !!!
by JulieAnn on May 26th, 2014

Dr. Alpern saw a blockage on one of my CT scans. He dismissed the tumor and my pleas to be transferred to a better hospital. He spent an extended period of time convincing me that I was too young to have this extremely rare cancer and that no further tests or treatment was necessary. Unfortunately, I believed him. As a result a better doctor found the cancer just AFTER it had entered my lymphatic system. So instead of a full recovery - returning to a normal life with an average life expectancy, I now have several severe chemo induced disabilities and a 30% chance of reaching age 50! (His score is this high because, the site won't allow me to give less than 1 star.)

I just had my fourth colonoscopy with the doctor over an extended period, some times every three years and a few every five. Although there were some occasional polyps (thus 4 times) all were removed and have had no serious outcomes. The doctor is very comforting and knowledgeable. I have recommended him to two friends the other day. My only negative is his waiting room time, an absolute horror. This, due I believe in the time he spends with each patient and makes you feel personally important when you are in there.

I started to notice blood on the tissue so I called for an appt. and the staff got me in the next night. Dr. Alpernwas courteous and sent me for all sorts of tests and luckily all were negative so next step will be colonoscopy and upper endoscopy.

The lady in charge of Insurance Approvals has off every Monday. Took 12 days for her to get authorization for a basic test. While the Doctor was great, I spent two hours in the waiting room and the wait to have a test done because of office staff was ridiculous. Found a new Doctor.
