Dr. Gerald D Alexander, DDS

Dr. Alexander received a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy from the University of Connecticut in 1969.  He graduated in 1974 from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine and then completed a general practice residency program at Michael Reese Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago, Illinois. Since 1976, Dr. Alexander has been in private practice in New Haven, CT.  He served as an assistant clinical professor of dentistry at Yale New Haven Hospital from 1976 to 1993.  
With emphasis in cosmetic, reconstructive and implant dentistry,  Dr. Alexander is committed to continuing education and strives to be at the forefront of his profession. Dr. Alexander was named one of the top dentists in the state of Connecticut the last four years by a vote of his peers conducted by Connecticut Magazine®. This recognition from his fellow dentists is why he is known to some as “ the dentist’s dentist" having been privileged to treat many dentists in his practice.  His reputation …draws patients from all over the East Coast. Dr. Alexander takes pride in using high power magnification to perform dentistry and many of the latest technological advances including digital radiography, digital photography and computer simulations of proposed cosmetic treatment.  He refers his patients to the very best specialists when appropriate.  He would welcome the opportunity to be your dentist as well, making himself readily available to answer any questions you may have about your dental care and being there for you in an emergency. A complete examination and treatment plan and estimate is done for all patients with the exception of emergency treatment.
Professionally, Dr. Alexander been a member of the Connecticut State Dental Association and locally the Greater New Haven Dental Association where he has served as President  in 2006-07.  In 2006 and 2007  he served as chairman of the Greater New Haven Give Kids A Smile event. He has received four awards from the New Haven Dental Association for outstanding service to the community and profession. In 2009,2010 and 2011, Dr. Alexander has served as steering committee co-chairman for volunteers of the statewide Mission of Mercy event sponsored by the Connecticut State Dental Association where last year over 2,000 patients received free dental care involving 1650 volunteers. Since 2005, Dr. Alexander has he been a Connecticut Hospice volunteer in Branford, CT., where he loves to play his guitar for patients, their families and staff throughout the year whenever his schedule permits.
Dr. Alexander lives in Guilford, CT with his wife Linda. They have three grown children and four grandchildren. Besides his passion for dentistry, he enjoys music, playing tennis, kayaking and photography.
