Summary
Dr. Gerusa Mello-Anderson has been in private practice for more than 25 years. She obtained a doctorate degree in dentistry at PUC Catholic University, Brazil. She then completed an internship with the Periodontal Disease Research Center at the University of Illinois at Chicago: College of Dentistry. In 1988, she completed a pediatric dentistry residency at the university.
For ten years, Dr. Mello-Anderson served as a professor in the Pediatric Department of the University of Illinois at Chicago: College of Dentistry. During this time, she provided dental assistance to inner city communities through the Illinois Department of Public Health Dental Sealant Program, Head Start, and other non-profit health organizations.
Dr. Mello-Anderson lectures about dental health to students in the Head Start Early Childhood Program and in local schools. She also participates in fundraiser programs.
Dr. Mello-Anderson is a member of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Illinois Society of …Pediatric Dentistry, the Illinois State Dental Society and the St. Clair District Dental Society. She serves on the staff of Memorial Hospital in Belleville.
Away from the office, she enjoys learning about other cultures and spends most of her free time with family and her dogs and cat.
In 2009, Dr. Mello-Anderson will be joining a medical brigade that provides healthcare to persons in underprivileged countries.
