This was absolutely the worst experience I have ever had with a medical professional. After a procedure for my husband, the office staff gave us a payment plan and the office manager and my husband and I signed it. Not ten minutes after we left their office, we received a call from them telling us they had changed their policy and would not honor the payment agreement. I told them that since they signed it, they should honor it. It took a very long time on the phone and quite a lot of stomaching their rude and demeaning attitude to convince them that they should honor a payment agreement we both signed. We paid the bill each month on time. Not late once, but they held a grudge. The next visit we had there, their office staff filed our old insurance instead of the NEW one I had just given them, so of course it didn't pay. They called and told me the insurance didn't pay and demanded we pay immediately, but I had a sneaking suspicion of what happened. I asked and they confirmed they had… filed the wrong insurance but would file the new one. OK. No harm done. I got a call some days later letting me know the new insurance also was refusing to pay. I called my insurance and they told me the claim had never been filed. When I called them back and asked them to refile, they told me their policy was to file only twice and that I would have to pay this one. They absolutely refused to refile the claim. After much argument (again), they told me that they would provide the paperwork to receive a reimbursement, but they required immediate full payment. I called my insurance. They told me how I could do this but still insisted the claim had never been filed. I called the office back and pleaded with them to refile the claim, telling them the insurance said it hadn't ever been filed. They called me difficult, said they were tired of dealing with me, etc. I couldn't believe how I was being treated! I finally asked them to tell me exactly how they filed it. We discovered they had put the wrong first name on the claim, which is why it didn't go through, but they still insisted that they had filed it twice and met their obligation and they wanted immediate payment from me. I called my insurance company again and they called the dentist and somehow convinced them to file the claim. I told them to remove all of my family members from future appointments, that we were not going to be subjected their hostile treatment any longer.
