Dr. Wellener is originally from Cleveland, OH. She attended Case Western Reserve University as a Dean’s Scholar and graduated in 1994 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology, minor in Chemistry.  She continued on at Case Western Reserve University School of Dental Medicine, graduating in 1998.  Dr. Wellener was the recipient of the Joseph D. Gage award, presented to the student exemplifying the highest level of humanitarian ideals.  She also received the Dean’s Award for Academic Excellence, as well as the Student Council Service Award all four years. Following dental school, she furthered her education in a residency program at the University of California, Los Angeles. Dr. Wellener was previously in private …practice in Cleveland for nine years. She continues to hold a part-time faculty appointment at CWRU School of Dental Medicine. Dr. Wellener regularly attends post-graduate continuing education courses every year, and is a member of the American Dental Association, the North Carolina Dental Society, the Sandhills Dental Study Club, and the Sandhills Symposium.  She enjoys exploring the Sandhills area with her husband, Andy, their three children and, not to be left out, their dog Choppers.
