Dr. Iyer is an exceptionally talented Board-Certified Oral Maxillofacial surgeon with five years of private practice experience. She is particularly focused in the areas of dental implants, pathology, and dento-alveolar as well as orthognathic surgery. She received her Doctorate in Medicine (MD) from the University of Texas Health Science Centers School of Medicine, and completed her residency as Chief Resident in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the same facility. Prior to that she obtained her Doctorate in Dental Medicine at University of Pennsylvania.Dr. Iyer was initially drawn to medicine to work with and help other people, a quality that is clearly demonstrated by her warm and compassionate personality. She initially chose dentistry because it represents an intersection of healthcare and artistry. Living in Northern Virginia with her husband and two sons, Dr. Iyer enjoys reading, travel, and hiking with her family. She and her sons are avid cooks, and are constantly broadening their horizons with new cuisines and recipes. Her involvement with the community is inspiring. As a coach for the Odyssey of the Mind program (a competition that encourages out of the box thinking from Kindergarten to High School) she uses her experience to help children develop valuable creative and reasoning skills.
