Dr. Mark A Handley

Dr. Handley was barely into his teenage years when he realized he might want to pursue a career in dentistry. He has always enjoyed learning, especially biology and natural sciences. Dentistry is an excellent extention of his need for life long learning.
Life began for Dr. Handley in a small town in Kansas named Eureka. Life as an Air Force brat saw him move with his family about the United States, eventually bringing him back to Eureka where he finished high school. He then moved to Lawrence, Kansas, to complete his undergraduate work at the University of Kansas followed by his dental school education at the University of Missouri – Kansas City, graduating in 1986.
It seems that knowing what career path he wanted to take in life was not the only thing that occurred to him early on. He actually met the girl who would become his wife one day in the second grade. This man is a true visionary! Kim Handley now works as a dental hygienist in the practice.
Dr. Handley opened his first …practice at 95th and Mission and by 1987 had moved further south into the current location with Dr. Wright. By 1990, Dr. Nancy Addy had joined forces with these gentlemen.
A progressive thinker, there is nothing Dr. Handley won't try. He views life as a challenge and enjoys all phases of dentistry. His practice offers a comprehensive list of services typically not offered by other general dentists.
"We do orthodontics for patients, but not the full mouth set usually worn by teenagers," said Dr. Handley.
Outside of his profession, Dr. Handley is never short on personal interests and endeavors.
"I have been playing golf since age ten," he noted. "I have played in Ireland and in Scotland. I am a year-round golfer and can be found on the golf course when time permits." In the past, he has been involved with the 1st Tee Golf Program and the Crittenton Center for girls.
Dr. Handley also enjoys travel, dining, and social gatherings with friends. True to his passion for learning, he is a self-described voracious reader, and also enjoys discussing current events.
A fan of the proverbial "bucket list," Dr. Handley has a host of adventures he wants to attempt in his lifetime. It seems no act of daring gets past this man, from scuba diving to bungee jumping.
"If I could buy a ticket to the moon, " he smiled, "I would."
His adventures in travel have taken him to Africa and South America. He aspires to set foot in China, Asia, and even the North Pole. Perhaps Santa may requisition his services for teeth whitening!
A life of balance is what is important to this man, keeping everything in focus, balancing work, family, faith, and recreation.
Dr. Handley believes in the philosophy that if you are not learning and growing, you are decaying. Perhaps he could be likened to an adult Curious George, eager to learn about the world around him, perhaps never quite satisfying his craving for knowledge and understanding.
"I cherish every day I get. You rarely regret the things you did in life. It is what you did not do that causes you regret. I am on this journey to collect experiences."
