Dr. Michael Kenney Spencer, DDS

Dr. Spencer was my dentist for several years. I had him put braces on my teeth about a year after I began to see him. Most of the orthodontic work that was done at his office was done by his extremely competent and friendly assistant. She is one of the best in the business but Dr. Spencer was rarely in the office. On the day that I was scheduled to get my braced removed I expressed a concern that 1 or 2 teeth had moved in the wrong direction and I was concerned that if my braces were left on, other teeth would move out of place as well. The Dental Assistant and I were discussing my options when Dr. Spencer came into the exam room and started to berate me, curse at me, and essentially call me lazy and unappreciative. He told me that I felt entitled and that I should take my beginning molds to The Baylor College of Dentistry to see what the think. I never once suggested that my treatment was bad or acted like I expected something unreasonable. If my teeth were the best that they… were going to be, Dr. Spencer could have just said that. He didn't. He attacked me and then when I pleaded with him to explain why he was so angry (I thought that I might have said something wrong) he told me that he had things to do, unlike me. He left his poor assistant to finish his work on my teeth. I felt that I had to get my braces off after that but now I think that was premature. Don't go to Dr. Spencer unless you want to get verbally abused for no or some unknown reason.
