Meet the Manela Dental Team
Dr. Michael Manela has been providing family and general dentistry services to the Tucson area for many years. He has been in the current location since 1999. Please take a moment to acquaint yourself with the people who make our practice what it is.
Dr. Manela and his staff believe in establishing optimal periodontal (involves the bone and tissues supporting the teeth) health for all their patients. Research has shown that optimal periodontal health helps develop better overall health. This approach encourages active participation by the entire dental team, and most importantly, the patient.
Of course, optimal dental health involves more than periodontal health. Removal and repair of decayed areas and repair of broken or missing teeth are necessary for adequate function and a good appearance. We provide an array of restorative choices as solutions to these circumstances. Finally, for those who want a little brighter smile we offer teeth whitening.
DR …MANELA BIO
Dr. Michael Manela is a long-time Tucson resident who came here after spending two years as an Air Force dentist. He obtained his DDS from Meharry School of Dentistry in Nashville, Tennessee. He also holds a BA degree from the University of Oregon. Locally, Dr. Manela is a past president of the Pima Dental Study Club, a former provider for TUSD’s Grayline Dental Program for underprivileged students, and an annual participant in the Give Kids A Smile event sponsored by the American Dental Association, the Arizona Dental Foundation, and Pima Community College. He is also a current member of the advisory board for the Dental Assisting program at Pima Community College.
Dental Assistant
SHEILA:
Sheila has been with the office for more than 20 years even though her daily roundtrip commute exceeds 150 miles. She is genuinely dedicated to her profession, to the office, and to the patients. In addition to her skills as an assistant Sheila is very engaging and, as a result, popular with patients. She has three children and five grandchildren and maintains a strong interest in her family. She enjoys attending concerts (primarily Country Music), reading, and radio contests.
Dental Hygienists
JODENE:
Jodene is a graduate of the Pima Community College School of Dental Hygiene with nearly 11 years of experience. She provides excellent care, is popular with our patients, and has a particular interest in Periodontal Disease and its treatment modalities. She keeps the patient’s overall health in mind as she works with them to improve their dental health. She has one child. Her interests are her family, travelling, and spending time with friends.
TOMASA:
Tomasa is the newest member of our team, having been with us for two years. She has 18 years of experience and is excellent at establishing rapport with her patients as well as proving outstanding care. She has three children and during any spare time enjoys swimming and reading.
