I wanted to share my wonderful orthodontics experience... an interesting series of events finally landed me to Darhar Orthodontics.It all began at my dental appt when the dentist handed me a deck of cards to choose my orthodontist.Then, I had a consult at a local university, as I heard I could save some money.They recommended that I have 8 teeth removed!They mentioned I need some contraption to put around my neck,to pull my jaw back.My chiropractor said absolutely not!I've never been good with cards, but thank goodness the 2nd one was Dahar Orthodontics!Both Dr. Dahar & the staff treated me with the utmost respect.Their reception reminded me more of a Ritz-Carlton experience as opposed to a doctor's office.A huge contrast to what I had experienced.The fee was not that different! I sat myself down and the decision was easy, I told myself this is my smile, something that will last me the rest of my life. I decided to follow my heart, and I am so very blessed I did.It is now years later… and my teeth look just as beautiful as the day the braces were removed... no headgear, no extractions and the constant headaches that I suffered from on a daily basis, are gone. I am constantly reminded of just how lucky I am to have made the right choice by the friends and strangers who consistently compliment my smile.

My daughter was 8 at the time and Dr Dahar said she was a special case. He told me it would cost about 4000 for all the work she needed and he could run my credit, and I could make payments, I said I dont have very good credit, nor do I have a co-signer or I cant afford payments because I am not working right now. The insurance denied her, but if the dr submits the proper info to them wont they eventually cover what needs done? So I just said I would wait till she got older and wait till the insurance would cover it. A day after that app I got a call from his secretary stating my daughters case is very unique and that he wanted to do the work as a courtesy to help her, so I agreed to let him do the work. At her app they had me sign a contract for the amount of about 3900 and above the amount it said courtesy. After I signed the paper I went into the exam room with my daughter and Dr Dahar and he went into telling me all the work she needed and then he said Im not going to be able to do… all of this work for free. He said we can set up a payment plan or do you have a co-signer? I said no I already told you last time I couldnt afford payments and I do not have a co-signer. I said I just signed a contract with the amount of 3900 and it said courtesy, he said oh well your going to have to go sign another paper, he said I'll do the top braces to help you and thats all I can do. It felt like he was sitting there talking down to me like I was in his office begging for free treatment! Oh and her bottom teeth are perfectly straight, I didnt understand to begin with why he wanted to put braces on her bottom teeth. So I had to go resign a new paper. He was concerned about her having an under bite. So he had them put glue on her bottom teeth and build it up so that her teeth were flush when she bit down so that it pushes her top teeth forward and corrects the under bite. That glue was put on every time she had her braces adjusted and every time it wore away after a week and it never corrected the under bite. 10 months later on a Friday night about 11pm one of the braces came off her tooth, It was digging into her gums. Saturday morning I called Dr Hajels emergency line, which is his cell number, because he is her dentist and thats the only thing I knew do to. Dr Dahar is the Ortho in Dr Hajels office in somerset but he is only there once a month and wasnt in till aug 20 that is 11 days away. I told Dr Hajel exactly what happened and he called me back immediately and said someone would call me with a time to meet at their Richland office to fix the brace, so that I wouldnt have to drive to somerset. Someone did call me back within 20 minutes and we went and met them within an hour. The lady was very nice and tried to do all that she could do, she informed me she had no orthodontic tools at the richland office, if I had known that I would have rather drove to somerset where they had orthodontic tools so she could fix it the right way. She got the brace clipped off so it wasnt digging but she couldnt get the wire clipped off. She put some kind of soft wax stuff that turned hard around the wire so it wouldnt bother her but it ended up falling off a few hours later. So for 4 days the wire made a blister inside her cheek. I had her put little pieces of sugar free gum on the wire so it didnt hurt as bad, wax didnt help it just fell off. But even with the gum it was still uncomfortable. Monday morning I called Dr Dahars office in Irwin. I explained about the poking wire and that we lived in Johnstown and the problem could not wait until aug 20, so they sched me an app. to come to Irwin from Johnstown today. I drove to Irwin over an hour drive and they cut the wire off. Why couldnt someone do that in the somerset office? While I was waiting one of the hygienist told me ohh I wish I would have known about this problem or you wouldnt have had to drive the whole way out here becasue I'll be in somerset tomorrow. Why didnt the receptionist know this?
