Nicholas Zacharczenko D.D.S., MSD., RPh., (Dr. Zach) was born in Buffalo, N.Y., and grew up in Delhi, N.Y. He graduated from Albany College of Pharmacy in 1982 and New York University College of Dentistry in 1986, where he finished third in his class. Dr. Zach is a member of the exclusive National Dental Honor Society (Omicron Kappa Upsilon). A very small percentage of each graduating dental school class is selected for membership. He also received graduation awards for excellence in periodontology and overall scholarship.
He completed a rigorous three year residency program specializing in prosthodontics at the Manhattan VA Hospital. This dental residency is considered one of the top in the country. Dr. Zach attends numerous continuing education courses to stay current in the constantly changing dental world.
Dr. Zach publishes extensively in pharmacy, dental and nature journals as well as pharmacy textbooks. You can read his articles in Pharmacy Times, Drug Topics and Kaatskill Life Magazines. He and his daughter routinely collaborate to write nature articles together (she graduated Cum Laude with a BS degree in Applied Zoology from McGill University and is a Ph.D. student at U Conn., majoring in Evolutionary Biology and Entomology). www.Caterpillarblog.com
His other pursuits include tennis (he is a 4.5 rated player and plays in area leagues and tournaments). He is also a NFPT certified personal fitness trainer. An avid sprinter, he is coached by his son, a recent graduate of Albany Academy (2010 Valedictorian and all-star swimmer and sprinter) and sophomore at Brown University. He competes in various track meets in the area. He also competes in 100 and 200 meter snowshoe sprint races. A certified Master Gardener, he tends to his beloved blueberry bushes as often as he can!
