Dr. Nicole Eileen Elger

Dr. Elger is a great dentist! I was very nervous about my appointment, but she helped ease my fears. Both her and her staff are so kind. She is very gentle and I could barely feel her giving me the numbing medication. She was very helpful and took her time to answer all the questions I had. I highly recommend her!

I visited The Carol Stream Dental Associates and saw Dr. Nicole Elger and dental hygienist Maribel. This place seemed to be very friendly and professional, however, when I went for a regular cleaning / check-up, I wound up learning from them I needed a deep cleaning (for entire mouth) that cost around $800. They also pressured me to consider getting braces (again, I'm 36) and that I needed 4 crowns and 9 fillings! They have you watch a video showing how your teeth can rot underneath the gum surface and convince you they should not do any other work until after they deep clean your entire mouth. What you will find if you choose to read more about this procedure, is that it is becoming a suggested service to help increase their revenue at your expense. They did not even verify that I needed this by looking for 4mm pockets (between the tooth and gum). Also, this procedure should only be done in the quadrant of the mouth where it is needed. When this is done… unnecessarily, they can actually break down the connection between your gum and tooth. Needless to say, after going home and believing I had thousands of dollars of work that needed to be done, I sought a second opinion from a veteran dentist, who also teaches downtown, and found I need ONE FILING!!! He also educated me on the use of their instruments and gum disease (usually in older adults 50+) and checked my entire mouth for swollen gums and pockets. I usually don't bother to write reviews; people can make their own assumptions. I just felt SO much relief and resentment towards Dr. Elger, that I don't want to see other people get taken advantage of. I, like so many others, put a LOT of trust in these professionals and it's not ethical that they abuse their privileged as a licensed provider of dental services.
