Dr. Patrick M. Nearing is an Oregon native. He graduated magna cum laude from Eastern Oregon State College, and from the University of Oregon Health Science Center School of Dentistry, in 1979. He continues to actively pursue continuing education, and he holds fellowships in the Academy of General Dentistry, the International College of Dentistry, the Pierre Fauchard Academy, the American College of Dentistry and the Academy of Dentistry International. He is a clinical instructor at the ODS School of Dental Hygiene, and was selected Dentist of the Year, in 2005, by the Oregon Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Nearing is a caring individual who takes the time getting to know his patients. His gentle nature helps patients relax and feel comfortable, in his office.
Community Outreach:
Dr. Nearing believes that it is important to give back to his community. He had been a board member of the Dental Foundation of Oregon for …nearly 20 years and has given his time serving on the Tooth Taxi (a mobile dental van that travels around the state, serving underprivileged children). He also donates his time on the Northwest Teams International vans, at the Mission of Mercy Programs, and to handicapped individuals, through the Donated Dental Services program. Not only does Dr. Nearing help his community with health care services, but he has coached children's wrestling programs for many years and has been a National Ski Patrolman for over 15 years.
Dr. Nearing has practiced general dentistry in La Grande, Oregon for more than 30 years. He and his wife Barb have three children. They enjoy whitewater rafting, skiing, fishing, and flying airplanes.
