Dr. Paul Coggins completed his undergraduate degree at Davidson College. He then studied at the University of North Carolina School of Dentistry at Chapel Hill, and graduated with a Doctorate degree in general dentistry. He completed a general practice residency at the Albert Einstein College of Medicine's Long Island Jewish Medical Center. Dr. Coggins also earned a post-doctoral Master's degree in Public Health from UNC-CH, concentrating in health policy and administration.
Having been in practice for over 20 years, Dr. Coggins is a public lecturer and Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry. He is a part-time faculty member in the Dental Hygiene department at Wake Technical Community College.
His professional affiliations include the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Society for Dental Ethics, and the North Carolina Dental Society. In the past, Dr. Coggins has served as Chairman of the Board of the Wilkes County Board of Health.
