Dr. Pearl K Burns, DDS

Dr. Pearl K. Burns strives for excellence by providing quality care and support to her patients on a private, individualized and personal foundation. She focuses her practice's environment to achieve mutual respect, long term relationships, and to encourage patients to become a part of our practice's family. We take pride in treating the patient, not just the disease, from prevention to diagnosis and treatment.
Dr. Burns received her A.S. degree from San Antonio Junior College in 1973. She received her B.S. degree from East Texas State University in 1975. At the age of 24 years young she received her D.D.S. degree from the University of Texas Dental Branch at Houston. Without delay, following graduation from the University of Texas, Dr. Burns accepted a commission as a Lieutenant in the United States Naval Dental Corps. She was assigned to the Naval Training Center in Orlando. While on active duty she provided dental care to Naval recruits and active duty personnel. Dr. Burns …completed her Naval commitment as a Lieutenant Commander in 1981 and immediately entered private practice in Winter Springs, Florida. She has enjoyed the challenges of a solo practice since separation from the U.S. Navy. To guarantee her familiarization and utilization of the most recent dental procedures and techniques, Dr. Burns attends continuing education classes relating to patient care. She is a member of the American Dental Association, the Florida Dental Association, Central District Dental Association, and the Greater Orlando Dental Society.
She believes in supporting and encouraging her Team to further themselves through advanced and continuing education.
Since 1995, Dr. Burns supports and sponsors the "Women In Science Scholarship" to promote the education of young women in Central Florida by offering financial assistance. This scholarship is offered to an outstanding high school senior female who has achieved academic merit in each of five local high schools to a college of their choice.
Dr. Burns actively participates in the community by volunteering with Harbor House, Orange County Center Against Domestic Violence; and the Winnie Palmer Hospital for Women & Babies.  Her most rewarding experience is by providing her dental skills and time to yearly medical Mission trips to Nicaragua, Honduras, the Amazon River in Brazil, Ecuador, and Mali and Ghana in West Africa.  She looks forward to returning to Mali in February and to Nicaragua in January and March in 2012. Dr. Burns also works with a Dental Readiness Task Force in support of our soldiers for deployment. 
On a personal note, Dr. Burns lives in Lake Mary.  Her daughter is enrolled in the graduate program at Florida Institute of Technology, Orlando Campus. In addition to the health care related volunteer work, Dr. Burns would rather be "under the water than above the water."  She is an avid scuba diver and looks forward to the gratification of underwater photography.   Additional hobbies include snow skiing, bicycling, reading and interior design. She enjoys the additional challenge of her energetic and imaginative cats, Mancho and Micho!
