Dr. Philip K Clark

Dr. Phillip Clark is an excellent dentist. He is extremely knowledgeable and experienced He always carefully explains your problems and challenges and helps you make the right choices for a comprehensive dental health plan. Dr. Clark is compassionate and kind. He is the only dentist I have ever had who did not cause me terrible pain when I had to have a root canal. What an amazing medical professional !! My family very highly recommends Dr. Clark.

I was seen on an emergency basis. Everyone in the office including the doctor were professional, warm and friendly. With that being said, I was disappointed. I'm used to having ONE dentist that can take care of everything at his office and all in one shot (except impacted teeth). I was in pain - serious pain and after having an X-Ray, I was told that I needed to have a root canaled tooth re-done or extracted. I had mentioned that I was taking an antibiotic the previous day (not the best one for the issue, but when you suspect infection, it's always best to try SOMETHING opposed to nothing at all), and there was clearly some infection on the X-Ray. He said it wasn't serious, and if it wasn't hurting me, he'd normally let that go. He also told me I wasn't inflamed. I let him know about the antibiotic I took the day before, and I let him know that it made me hurt even more. He seemed puzzled. I also let him know that when flossing, I could get the floss under the crown. He said that… everything was fine as far as the crown goes. Fast forward to the endodontist - I am inflamed and have a pretty nasty infection in my bone - all seen on the X-Rays that Dr. Clark's office took. The endo can't even think about working on my tooth right now simply b/c it is so infected, so he gave me a strong antibiotic to take for at least 24 hours before doing any type of work on me. When I go back to see him, if I'm not feeling better, or if I'm feeling worse, he told me straight out the tooth would have to come out. Getting back to Dr. Clark, HOW did he not see how infected I am and not prescribe any type of antibiotic at all? Also, it is not normal for floss to get caught up under a crown. That's NOT good. This isn't my first rodeo with a root canal, and I've come back from some major work in my mouth like a trooper - most people have pain for days. I just need a little ibuprofen the next day, and then I'm usually fine . The clincher - We own our own company, and we handle health and dental claims - have done this type of work for well over 20 years now. Since our plan is fairly new, there is a waiting period before higher end services are covered. I asked Dr. Clark if he'd accept the insurance company's fee schedule for the services that would need to be done after the root canal, if that is the service that I choose, and I was told no. However, the visit today for the initial visit was covered, so let me get this straight - he'll accept the fee schedule directly from the insurance as payment, less my copayment, if any, but he won't give me the same rate and wants to charge me the office rate? That's not right. Remember, I've been doing this for a living for 20+ years! I am covered, but this specific service isn't, so WHY wouldn't you accept the same fee you'd get from the insurance from me instead, and in the process let a potential future patient walk out the door and/or possibly lose a tooth that was trying to be saved to begin with? BAD BUSINESS Sorry for the long review, but I wanted to explain what happened to be fair. Once again, nice, friendly and professional Dr and Staff, but horrible business practice. BTW, the endo offered me the fee schedule rates as per my dental plan for the re-treatment, in the case that we can get this infection under control.

If you want to pay more than necessary they are your dentist, they sneak is admin charges that they don't bill insurance for because they ins don't pay for it according to them. More like because its suppose to be part of the procedure but a special code for which they can put any dollar amount on.
