Dr. Richard D Kruer

I have some mild anxiety issues at the dentist. The staff was very nice and addressed my issues, making me feel at ease. During the procedure Dr. Kruer kept me informed as to what he was doing. Afterwards they made sure all my questions were answered and I had all the steps I needed for follow up care. He also encouraged me (in a kind way, without talking down to me) to follow up for treatment with the general dentist. Everyone I dealt with was very kind.

Terrible. This "Dentist" had trouble numbing my tooth, was rough giving injections and when I moaned in pain (because of the rough handling on the 4th or 5th needle for a shot) he yelled at me to "Shut the H*** up!". He was also spending time running between 3 other rooms and pulling teeth within 5 minutes then telling people to go take ibuprofin for the pain he caused. then running to next room. I left and he got nice and shook my hand after I was out of the chair. I complained to my insurance company and found many other complaints online about this unprofessional jerk.

The "doctor" was terrible. I went to have a tooth extracted. I received several rough injections where I complained about the pain and he told me to "shut up" and "be quiet". He then ran to another room, quickly yanked someone elses tooth in literally 6 minutes then ran back to me for a moment, then back to another room to see someone else. More like a "quickie tooth pull mill" than a dentists office. Terrible service, bad attitude. I just walked out without getting a tooth pulled. I fired him AND my primary dentist who referred me to him.

Money is more valued than service

Dr Kruer is a very professional man. Even thought I have a "generalized anxiety disorder", he puts me at ease!

I got my wisdom teeth taken out by Dr. Richard Kruer and I could not have asked for a worse experience. I have dealt with anxiety for several years and things like IVs and giving blood make me extremely anxious so we called ahead to see if my mom could come in with me just until they put me under (which they were going to do via IV) so that I could stay calm. They said no, but they would give me gas so that I would be relaxed before they put the IV in. I was still anxious about it, but it seemed to be the only way. I came in, on edge, and waited for the gas to start working. The nose piece was not secure and almost no gas was getting to me so nothing was working yet. The assistant went to put the IV in and I told her no, the gas had not started working and asked to wait. She asked if I wanted to doctor and I said no, but she got him anyway. Dr. Kruer came in and scolded me as if I was a child. I was 18 at this time, a legal adult. He said that he was very busy and if the IV didn't… go in right then that I would have to pay a cancellation fee because he would not do the surgery. I started crying because my anxiety began to get the better of me and I didn't want to go through this again. He said "look at you. You'll be ashamed of how you're acting. I know I would." I said I was trying to calm down, but I have anxiety and it doesn't always make sense and that he was not helping and I just needed to calm down so that we could continue. It continued back forth for awhile, I eventually fell into a full on panic attack and he grabbed my arms and strapped me to the chair and then grabbed my legs so that I wouldn't kick and even though I was yelling "NO! STOP! I'M NOT READY YET!" and struggling with tears streaming down my face, they stuck the IV in and he said "See, that wasn't so bad" and all I could manage before I passed out was "Yes it was, you're mean" After my surgery. Dr. Kruer came out to the waiting room where my mom was sitting and proceeded to tell her "So, I guess you called and said something about her having anxiety or whatever and she gave me problems, but before she tells you anything I just wanted to let you know that because of the gas, she might make some sh*t up." I was wheeled out and immediately began crying, being groggy and out of it, only being able to tell my mom "He's an assh*le" the whole way to the car and the whole ride home. Once I woke up and knew what was going on, I told my parents everything. They both contacted CDS and neither got a response. As far as we know, no disciplinary actions were taken and he still practices at CDS. Shame on the assistant who did nothing as a full grown man strapped me to a chair as I screamed for him to stop. Basically, this unprofessional man made an already scary experience absolutely terrifying. He cussed at my mother, and treated me like a nine year old. If I could give him less than one star I would.

A few years ago, I had seen Dr. Kruer and swore I would never go back but honestly could not remember why. Recently, I was in a bind and with limited choices of oral surgeons, so I made an appointment to see Dr. Kruer again. During the consult everything went fine, and I scheduled another appointment to have a couple of teeth extracted. The Dr. Kruer who did the consult and the Dr. Kruer, who did the procedure where like 2 different people. The Dr. Kruer who did the consult was a person who listened to all my concerns and took time to answer all my questions. The Dr. Kruer who did the procedure had no bed side manners, was very short with me and very rough when performing the procedure. I paid an extra $516.00 for IV sedation and was told I would not remember anything about the procedure. This turned out to be NOT true as I remember everything that happened and even stopped him twice to complain. Dr. Kruer advised that I was getting exactly what I paid for, and I told him I paid to… be knocked out like we discussed. Dr. Kruer stated there was nothing he could do about it now and continued to remove my teeth. Immediately right after the procedure I complained my tongue was hurting. Dr. Kruer told me that it was not pain it was the effects of the Novocain. I kept telling him no, I know what a numb tongue was from Novocain, and this was different feeling. Dr, Kruer continued to ignore me and left the room. During the entire time, I was being released; I kept complaining about my tongue feeling swollen and hurting, but my complaints went unheard. A couple of hours after arriving home the Novocain started wearing off and the pain increased to my tongue. Then my lower lip and cheek started to hurt and felt swollen. The pain medication I was given was not working. After a few hours with pain medication and ice packs, I could not get any relief, so I called Dr. Kruer's office to notify them. At that time, I was told there was nothing they could do and to take Aleve or ibuprofen with my pain medication. After 8 hours, I was still getting no relief and called Dr. Kruer's office to have him paged since it was after hours, and I never received a call back so I ended up going to the ER. After the ER Dr. did a physical examine and took x-rays (Please note that I was not having any pain from the extraction site.) the ER Dr. told me that I had trauma to my lip, cheek and tongue. That my lip, cheek and tongue were bruised and swollen. The ER Dr. brought a mirror with him to explain to me and show me the areas affected. He also advised it is very rare to see a bruised tongue, especially away from the extraction site. The ER Dr. increased my pain medication and told me to keep ice on my face as much as possible. The next day I attempted several times to get a call back from Dr. Kruer's offices leaving several messages with the staff and never received a reply back.
