Dr. Richard “Rick†Seume, DDS
Dr. Seume was born and raised on the northwest side of Houston. He graduated from Jersey Village High School with honors. He also lettered in soccer and enjoyed extra curricular activities such as art. From there Dr. Seume attended UT Austin where he attained a BA in Biology and graduated Magnum Cum Lade. During the summer of 1992, Dr. Seume worked for the Boy Scouts in Ely, Minnesota as a wilderness guide in the Boundary Waters Canoeing Area.
Dr. Seume attended dental school at the University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio. He graduated Magnum Cum Lade with a Doctorate in Dental Surgery in May of 1998. Dr. Seume purchased Hitchcock Dental in November of the same year from Dr. Don Chapman.
In March of 1999,Dr. Seume married his wife, Kat. They live in Pearland with their two children, Mary and Ricky. They attend First United Methodist Church of Pearland where they are involved in the Shepherd Ministry and enjoy leading their …Sunday school class.
Dr. Seume enjoys having a small- town dental practice and is actively involved in the community of Hitchcock. He is a two- time past president of the Hitchcock Chamber of Commerce and a current board member. He always participates in the annual Hitchock Good Ole Days festival, volunteering where needed during the weekend. He is also a member of the La Marque Rotary Club. Yearly, Dr. Seume presents oral health education at the local schools. He also supports youth sports, the local Boy Scouts, and sponsors a physically challenged child in the Turning P.O.I.N.T. Fishing Tournament.
Two of Dr. Seume’s favorite past times are duck hunting and fishing . He remembers coming to Hitchcock numerous times as a child to get to the boat ramp on Second Street or to duck hunt on Hall’s Ranch. His third passion is talking about duck hunting or fishing. Often times his assistant has to interrupt his conversation with one of his patients regarding current fishing reports to remind him that he has work to do and fishing has to wait.
