Summary
Dr. Shuken grew up in Southern California. He attended the University of Southern California for both his undergraduate and graduate studies, graduating from the USC School of Dentistry as the recipient of the coveted award for clinical excellence in Prosthetics; one of only four clinical honors given. He completed his residency in oral and maxillofacial surgery at the Los Angeles County USC Medical Center and began a private practice in Reseda which has expanded to include a second office in Agoura Hills. Shortly thereafter, he was Board Certified by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Based on his achievements, he was selected as an Examiner by the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and served in that capacity for a period of six years.
In the early 1980’s he traveled to Sweden and Canada to study with the leader in the field of implant dentistry, Professor Per-Ingvar BrÃ¥nemark. Along with his partner, he is also one of a small select group of …oral surgeons who has the advanced training in Cranial Facial Applications for those patients suffering disfigurement caused by birth defects, disease, or facial trauma.  In 1985, he became a founding Director of the Center for Restorative Oral Surgery at Valley Presbyterian Hospital, the first implant center of its kind in the United States.
With an unyielding commitment to professional education and recognizing the ever changing dynamics of implant dentistry, Dr. Shuken and his partner recently established the Center for Advanced Education. Dr. Shuken has lectured locally and nationally and has had a number of articles published in various oral surgery publications. He was a Clinical Professor at the USC School of Dentistry, currently he is an Examiner for General Anesthesia Licensure, appointed by the State of California, and is an active member in good standing of a number of professional organizations including the ADA, CDA, American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons the American Board of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and the California Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery.

Ensuring Data Transparency and Trust: A Guide to Vitals Doctor Listings and Reviews
Our provider data is gathered directly from physicians and publicly available databases. Providers who verify their profiles gain the ability to update information, offering additional details about their specialties, education, treated conditions, performed procedures, and accepted insurances.
Reviews on Vitals are submitted by users only. Recognizing the valuable insights these reviews offer into a doctor's reputation, we maintain internal policies and protocols to ensure the quality and accuracy of all reviews. Importantly, providers cannot delete or alter reviews independently. Reviews can only be deleted or changed following an internal assessment by our customer service team.
Your feedback is highly valued and we encourage you to contact our support team should you encounter any issues.
