Dr. Shahrouz Akhavan

This Dentist is the best I have gone to with my family. My husband loves it here and my kids feel very comfortable with all of the friendly staff here. Highly Recommend.

This doctor (Shahrouz Akhavan) and his staff (manager) is very unprofessional and I think childish. Let me tell you my experience: I went for the dental check for my 4 year old daughter and they did X ray and determined that she needs 4 cavity treatment and 2 crowns. Because I don't want her to take general anesthesia I only wanted the doctor to treat her cavities which they agreed during the first check. I made an appointment for her treatment the other day (having her without eating anything for 4 hours right before the sedation) and signed the consent page for the sedation treatment. However just out of curiosity i wanted to learn if this practice was a pediatric dentist or not, i asked the front desk. She then referred me to this illogical unprofessional manager. He basically said they would refer me to a pediatric dentist because: 1) the doctor would not feel comfortable (I think confident as he has only 3 year of experience) treating her 2) I did not want my daughter to… get the crown treatment ( my choice right?!! ) (less money coming in from the insurance for just the cavities right??!) I said " even if I would go to a pediatric dentist, I would not get her crown treatment. period. I may change my mind but this is not an option for now". Still, Shahrouz Akhavan DDs would not feel confident treating a cavity for 4 year old??!! 3) I asked what the implications would be for treating a child with cavities compared to an adult: The manager said it is just: Child teeth vs adult teeth. no different implications. Then why there is pediatric dentist everywhere if they are not any different than the general dental practices. He said the only difference is pediatric dentists have the right to treat with anesthesia. Is that it?? I am not sure. I made my appt with a pediatric dentist and will ask him difference then I will make another post here. I think the problem was I was being nosy and questioning everything my child would get.. Sorry for not being a sheeple mom. Ohhh and this Shahrouz Akhavan DDs did not even bother to talk to me in person. I called MCMA , Texas Health Steps and some more agencies for this bad practice.... Unacceptable. At the end of the day, you guys lack customer service skills, crises management, and professionalism. Anyway, bright side is, I will pick a pediatric dentist.
